I wanted to know what your top 3 favorites are for Stampin Up stamp sets (it could be current or retired). I am new to SU & been browsing on Ebay and Buy/Sell on this set and would like to add to my inventory but not so sure what are good/useful/versatile. I wanted to compile a quick list so I know when things goes on sales here I can recognize the name and doesnt need to see the picture of the set.
Thanks!!!
My current favorites are Fun & Fast notes, For a Friend (retired?).
Baroque Motifs is a pretty popular one. You can use it for Christmas, Wedding, so many things really. Lovely as a Tree is nice for masculine cards. These are still current. I'm not sure that they are my favorite at the moment, but they are sets that I have turned to repeatedly. I can't say that for many sets. I tend to use a set for what I bought it for and then they sit.
Oh and you need a good set of sentiments. Warmest Regards is one of my favorites. It has a nice font and is a good size and has just about everything you would need. It is an old hostess set, but there are quite a few on ebay.
I agree with Lorien--Lovely As A Tree is classic and masculine, and Baroque Motifs is versatile and stashable.
Line art stamps that can be used for random stamping also appeal to me--I'm still fond of In Full Bloom, but Autumn Splendor is right up there too--especially if it's embossed.
Some of my faves have already been listed but two I will never part with even tho they have been retired forever. .. Soft as a Feather and Garden Pleasures. I will always have them and I like And Everything Nice too! I love all these because I like to do watercolor and pastels.
When I have time it would be fun to go through each gallery of the artists that posted here and see what they have done with their favorite stamps.
I love baroque motifs too.
I just answered this question as a new demo because I need to get rid of some of my retired sets. Three sets I use all of the time with great results are:
Two of you said Paint Prints, I had forgotten about that set. I used to love it and use it all the time. Thanks for the memory jog, now off to get it out...

Number one, baroque motifs for sure!! It is too versatile for words. Lovely as a Tree next and then a good flower (I like In full Bloom) or any other good basic flower

I LOVE IN FULL BLOOM!! I also love a very old set called CHRISTMAS CAROLERS...and the beach one, but I can't remember what the name of it is!!
Tough choices. Going with sets I've actually USED the most, I'd say Roses In Winter and Noble Deer. Then there are sets I love, but haven't actually inked up. Like Darling Dragons and Little Boys. Oh, and I love the military one with the guy praying (can't think of the name of that one).
Thank you for posting this and also to everyone sharing their favorites!!
I'm trying to build my inventory too....and there are so many sets.
Glad to know of some that are useful and versatile!!
I bought a set off ebay "Loads of Love" I think it's called. Has a pickup truck and there's an accessory set with items to put in the truck...think there's a Christmas tree and such.
I Don't have it handy here to look at but you could probably find it on-line. I like it because you can use it for a lot of different things...there's a stamp that says something like I thought you needed a little pickup. Very cute! Great for man cards!

I wanted to get loads of love too, looks so cute but was out when I asked this seller on craiglist... :(
I know a lot of ppl are selling SU stamps in the sell/buy forum but it takes forever to look them up on the gallery and by the time I know what I want or go through the list, either 1) it's been sold, or 2) I forgot what seller has the better deal.....:(

Was Warmest Regards the one that was a hostess back in 2006/07? If so, I agree with you. The words were bit enough to be easily read, but not so big that they got in the way of the image. I gave mine to my Mum, and I've regretted it since.
Several of my faves have already been mentioned so I'll add some that are different
I love to use these for texture: Itty Bitty Backgrounds-great tiny spatter Canvas and Weathered bg stamps Gorgeous Grunge-current-two spatters and lines that make great crosshatching along with a diagonal patter French Foliage-beautiful leaves, a pretty cursive text, and spatter...what more could you want!
A set that I would never part with is Coast to Coast with beautiful lighthouses
This can change over time but currently my favorites are Teeny Tiny Wishes, Blessed Easter, Bloom With Hope, and Sassy Salutations. I pull these out a lot. Lovely as a Tree is always a favorite for masculine cards.
