Default Tile magnet HELP

Good Morning,
I made some tumbled tiles (this I've done before, so all went well) and then I thought I would try something new. I bought a sheet of 36 2x2 tiles, stamped on them and then hot-glued magnets to to backs (that's what the packaging on the magnets said to use). I used the hostess mini catalog Christmas set and they turned out really cute.

BUT...

Now, a few days later, some of the magnets are coming off the tiles. Some times the hot-glue comes off the tile and sometimes it comes off the magnet. Any ideas? I wanted to use these for simple stocking stuffers, but I don't want to give away a gift which falls apart.

Thanks, Linda K

I'm making some as well. I made one as a dry-run and used E6000 glue (found Wal-mart) and sanded the back of the magnet before I applied it. So far (1 week), the magnet has held. I hope this helps!

Hot glue typically doesn't work well on Non-Porous objects. You just need to find something is for use on Metals, stone... etc.. I really like E6000 as well.

You'll figure it out... Be sure and post the tiles... they sound adorable.

Ditto everyone on the E6000.
I made tiles last year that have held up great.
Good luck!

I have been using a liquid-glass type product from Plaid to hold my magnets onto marble magnets I made this year. I just made them up yesterday, but so far so good. I even used some of those super-strong magnets that can hold like an entire manuscript up by themselves, and accidentally magnetised some of them to each other and the glass stuff i used as glue still held. (in fact, it held better than the paper, which ripped in half depth-wise.)

Default Glue

I believe the glue I use is a silcon base and it so far has held up. Hope this helps

I did these last year. I had no trouble when using Crystal Effects (or Ayleen's Paper Glaze)....MY trouble came when I wanted to seal them; everything I did made them run...I had used Sharpies, used versamark with chalks, Staz On (in experimenting) then I tried diff. sealants: Krylon Triple Thick C.Clear Spray (aerosal can)--it ran. I tried versamark with ultra thick embossing powder--it bubbled and blew off. I tried Krylon Tr. Thick Glaze dabbed on with sponge "brush". Nothing was acceptable. Are you sealing any or just leaving them?
Hope you get your answer.

thanks, everyone, for the replies. I'm headed out to buy E6000 now. Not sure which section to look in, but I'm sure I'll find it. Sorry I won't be posting a picture for everyone...don't have the right equipment. And, yes, I did seal them after using sharpies, Staz-on, and watercolor pencils. Just a basic acrylic sealer but with VERY LITE coats...almost a dusting each time.

Thanks again for your help.

I found the E6000 in the craft dept at Wal-mart. Good luck! It works great!

Re sealing -- I love future floor wax. It can either be put into a small spray bottle and sprayed on or (my preference) just brush it on -- use a VERY light touch, put on 4 or 5 coats being sure to let it dry completely between. Works for me.
