the other day I had a little time to burn while waiting for the end of the school day, stopped in a thrift shop and spied two SU! sets. One is from 1992, no idea the name, its a Christmas set with a house, carolers, a little candle, pine cone, pine sprig etc.
The other one is a classic. I was sure it was more current than it's actual date of 1997, Itty Bittty Backgrounds. Isn't everyone still using those!? The little splatter and speckles are so on trend right now.
Got both sets, two generic ink pads and a single Christmas silhouette stamp for $7. Yeah!

One of these days I'll count my SU stamps that I bought at thrift stores. Usually the ones I find are single stamps but that's the thrill of the hunt for me.
Each store has a craft section and there I can find plastic bins that often have stamps, some have stamps and ribbon, some have stamps and a whole bunch of other "stuff". I can go through those bins pretty fast and reach to the bottom to find a stamp that I really, really need! LOL~!
I always say I have enough but then we go again and first place I head for is the craft section yet again.
Then there's the paper, inks, glitter, glitter glue, punches (seldom now), and blank note cards that people might have bought to print something with their printer and then changed their minds. Great for me!

Hi Dorie95! I'm in SW WI! I don't have any luck at any of the local thrift stores. I saw a couple stamps once that I didn't want-no others at thrift stores. I did find a SU fireplace stamp at a flea market and bought it. That's about it.

Congrats! My best finds were two or three large brand new, never mounted SU stamp sets at a kids consignment sale- at a great price! They were pretty recent releases also, and best of all is that I didn't have them yet!
I've had really good luck finding stamps at thrift stores. In fact, I've had such good luck I've banned myself for a few months ; ) My best find was a set of SU flowers and a CTMH fruit set, both unused, for $3.99!!!
I wonder if we've ever bumped shoulders at the GW's in Waukesha & Pewaukee or St. Vince's? Our son is an EBay'er so on his days off we all trudge around, he looks for his stuff, I look for stamping stuff and hubby sits by the books and looks at cookbooks and talks to other menfolk. LOL!

Hi Allistamps,
There are a lot of stamps I don't buy. When I first started out I bought a lot but now I'm getting picky and choosey! The fireplace stamp you found will come in handy for cold weather cards and we sure have enough of those days here in Wisconsin, don't we??
