I was stamping tonight and used a technique that for the life of me I could not name. It's kind of like a cross between direct to stamp, emboss resist and joseph's coat. I used my craft stampin' spots to ink up select portions of the stamp so that the image/sentiment would be dual colored. then I stamped on whisper white and embossed with clear EP. Finally I brayered on some dark classic ink and used a tissue to wipe the classic ink off the embossed part. This is the card: Craft emboss resist sympathy by stampwithdiane at Splitcoaststampers
So is there an official name for this somewhere out there that I just can't remember or is it possible that I actually through of something all by myself? I like the look of it so I might use it again, but I would love to know what to call it. So far I'm going with "Craft emboss resist," but if there is another real name for it I'd really love to know so I can call it what it actually is.
Wow -- thanks for pointing me to that tutorial! Her cards are amazing! But man, way beyond my abilities.
Her technique is not quite the same as mine (I didn't use any versamark ink - in a pad or marker -- just craft ink in barely banana and certainly celery,) but I guess it's just a different way to get to the same end point.
I have no idea about the technique. Just wanted to point out that your avatar is actually *MY* super secret celebrity boyfriend. Super secret because he doesn't actually *know* he's my boyfriend.....yet! ;-)
P.S. The card *is* really pretty!

Your card turned out beautifully and to me it looks like you have created something new -- Faux Pearl Ex. It has the same subtle shimmer. Great job.

LOL! If I wasn't married I'd have to fight you for him. As it is, I'm very happy for you both ;-). Nathan is as good a secret celebrity boyfriend as you can get!
