I'm going with my boyfriend tomorrow, to help set up his classroom before school starts. He's been a teacher at this school for 3 years now. This year is my first being a SU! demonstrator, and I just signed up in May, so no one at the school knows I'm a demo yet. Enough backgroung :?
Tonight, I sat and made up 30 pencil pouches. I decorated them very nicely, put my info sticker on the back and included 2 pencils. I'm planning on putting them in all of the boxes as a little surprise "Welcome back." I'm flipping back and forth between "Good idea" "not a good ides." Help! What does everyone think? Thanks!
I think it is a good idea. I'm a teacher and I would like it! It's very kind of you to put the time into making the pouches. As long as it's not too "pushy" as far as the business end, more of just a friendly gift. I think your info sticker is perfect!
What does your boyfriend think?
You know Stampin Up sells itself, so you could get some teachers who fall in love with it and give you a call! I know the stampin sensation has spread through my school district like wildfire!!!
Good luck!!
Ashley
PS When I read your post, I initally thought you were putting them in the other teacher's mailboxes!! Didn't realize it was for the kids. Duh!
I just re-read my post and it didn't make a lot of sense
I'm putting them in the teacher's mailboxes. I got so excited with my post, I didn't realize I was running in tangents. lol Thanks for the replies so far. You ladies make me feel so much better about this. My boyfriend thinks they're great and he likes the ides. Anything to get my name out there and get those teachers ordering
I'm thinking of doing something similar - I know several teachers at school who are not looking forward to the first few days because of all the changes (like new kids etc). Anything that makes them feel special is always appreciated.
Check with the Principle to make sure it's OK and then you go girl. I now have several teachers who stamp with me.
I say a big yes, I work at a school as well, the teachers love when someone does even the smallest thing for them. Our secretary use to do this for our teachers but she has left now. I figure I will do it this year.
I am a teacher and it sounds like a nice idea. But, I agree with the others, ask the principal. I know my principal would definately need to be asked about something like this. By the way, adding a little chocolate (Hershey minis or kisses) to ease the first day "Back to School" jitters to those pouches would be good too. Teachers can never have enough chocolate!
*grin* I know all the bus drivers would like one too!

I was actually going to do this for my students! I'm starting my year of student teaching in about 2 weeks... I'm nervous as all get out, but I'm hoping that everything will go okay.
Do you think that it would be okay to put my name/sticker/info on the back of these pouches? My boyfriend thinks that I might get in trouble hostessing a party for one of the parents of my teachers.... Have any of you had any experience with this? What about with selling to other teachers?
I'm not going to push myself on anyone - first, I just want to do something fun for my students, and if a mom or anything asks then I'll share my stamping passion!
Let me know what you think...

PigonFire,
I don't think that there should be a problem with any of the parents hostessing a workshop. However, I do caution you on giving out your home phone and email to all the parents in the beginning of the school year. Sometimes you can get some really wacky parents, and you may wish that you had never given them your home number.
I would stamp the kids some really cute things in the beginning of the year, and then when you are having a get to know that teacher night, or sending home a letter to introduce yourself you could throw in a few well worded statements like: "My hobbies are reading walking on the beach and mostly importantly I love rubber stamping! I have been a Stampin' Up demonstrator for 2 years. This allows me to share my love of stamping through in home workshops. "
I had good results from doing professional looking projects with the kids. One Mother's Day we embossed flowers with white on vellum and colored on the back of the vellum. The kids loved it. They came to me one at a time for the embossing. They were so impressed with watching the powder change. The mom's were really amazed and when they saw what their Kindergartener was able to do with stamps they wanted to try it themselves.
Good luck and Congratulations on your new classroom!
