I had a few chats with SU about this. I asked if the people who buy a collection (brights, regals, etc) would be getting them in trays, etc, and they said of course. If it is that expensive to put them in individual tins, why didn't they just put them in one tin?
The WWC were the item that I most looked forward to getting, but I refuse to pay $52 (CAD) for 17 crayons.
Since I won't be getting the WWC in the old InColours and new colours, I probably won't be buying the papers and inks as well (except for Cherry Cobbler and Cajun Craze which I absolutely love). SU will be making a lot less money on me this time.

I for one am totally getting the conversion kit.... I bought the WWC a long time ago when they DID offer it all in one tin (as you suggested).... 48 colors in one long akward tin.
It's such a pain to get out crayons, and the metal tin is heavy, so no matter where I store it, when I grab it, it bends a little, and even with a big rubberband around it, crayons fall out.
I've dropped the crayons all over the place so many times (and broken many), that I am so thankful for the 4 separate tins, that I don't mind paying a few dollars each for the tins.
I have A LOT of customers that buy separate the colors. They buy two tins each and then cut the crayons in half. I've had mine for three years and have barely made a dent in them.

Hi Val
I agree about the price. I live in Canada but I do not have money that grows on trees. I bought the first tin of WWC on ebay. I find I do not use them that much. Probably this new set will go on ebay soon.
Hi!
I would like to have the new WWC colors, but even the cost in USD is absolutely ridiculous...yet, as I have all 4 sets and find I rarely use them, I don't think I'll really miss not having the new colors....with me, sometimes...and I hate to admit this, it's more about "having" than "using" and I REALLY want to change that!!!!! So....no new WWC from me and that's ok!!!!!
I agree that the set of new crayons at $51.00 Canadian is too expensive. I called SU and was told it was because of the tins. I really don't need new tins and wish they were available without the tins. I love the crayons but will not be buying the new colours.
Perhaps your demo will put together a club-type sort of thing for the new colors to help you pay for it all over a few months? I decided to do that for my customers since buying all the new stuff all at once is not exactly feasible for most people. Never hurts to ask!!

What a great idea. I've had mine since they first came out and they've barely been touched either -- and I do use 'em.

Seriously, it works out great! I'll give a tip though, when I bought mine with my DL, I cute them with...umm...a steak knife.
Duh.
It made an awful mess so the next time a customer orded them, I took an exacto and ran it all the way around the half way mark and then snapped it in half. Nice clean cuts and no annoying shavings in the pack.
I'm thinking about getting that new tin, that expensive one. I do have the old big 48 tin, but first i wanna know what the set looks like... Can i fit the 48 old ones in the tins that are going with the new colors? I don't really get it... And can someone get me some pics of that new set, that would make it all a whole lot easier to deside to invest or not...

Thanks in advance!!

They come in 4 tins now, one tin for each color. They went away from the one big tin a while ago (after I had got it and I HATE it, it's so big on my desk when I'm using it and all the crayons have ended up on the floor...more than once). The new tins aren't "expensive ones" (meaning they aren't special or fancy or anything) but you have to pay for the new colors and then the inserts that fit 10 crayons (the "old" ones fit 12 since there were 12 colors in each old color family) and then the new tins that fit the new inserts. So you get four inserts and tins with the new colors and then you transfer over the colors from your "old" ones that made it into the new collections. Did that make sense????
I have not got them yet either! Rather spend my money on other stuff and honestly I don't use my WWC much anymore...now, when I first got them I used them all the time because they were the first SU stuff I bought and I liked that I had all the colors...BUT I've had all the inks for a long time now and just use them when I want to color.
So I think I probably won't get them...more money for staaaamps!
As for your questions about colors what you get now if you buy each set (there are 4 of course for the color collections) is that you get the 10 colors in each set so yes some of the colors are from the "old 48" set. That is the point of the color kit...so you only get the "new" colors (the new core colors and all the returning in colors that were never made in WWC) with the color kit so you don't have duplicates. Was that your question....I'm tired and been at the fair all day in in food coma..brain is fuzzy:p
