I am just not sure how this makes me feel! I rec'd my SU order and instead of the brown paper that is usually stuffed inside, there were sheets of bubble wrap! BIG bubbles! Not the little poppy kind but BIG ones. I use the brown paper to wrap presents in and make other crafts so I am kind of bummed out! I will now have to think of a use for these bubble sheets. Does anyone else miss the paper?

If you like weathered backgrounds, it crinkles great! I also like the way it feels...not a rough as a paper bag but can give you the same look. I have also found that if you stamp on it, the ink does not get absorbed as much as if you were stamping on a lunch bag...the paper is just different.
Is it strange that I save it?

Oh say it isn't so!..I love the brown paper...I flatten it out (sometimes iron it) roll it up and save it. I have used it to make vines for our VBS...tons of it went into baskets for our theme tray auction- not a bit goes to waste..hope they keep the paper
Well, maybe I should go rooting through the trash before it gets picked up! Boy, I wish I would have seen this earlier. The funny thing is, I'm usually a pack rat but I never gave this a bit of thought for some reason. Heck, I even save the pretty gum wrappers from 5 Gum - emboss it and it's so pretty. :0)

The best use for large bubble wrap? Instant stress reliever.
POP.......POP......POP.....POP POP....POP POP POP POP POP
As a former special ed teacher, I used it all the time with the students to help develop their fine motor skills. The little stuff works great too. If you don't want it, perhaps there is another teacher in your area who likes using it with her kids.
And as a current elementary school teacher, I would use it for painting, as mentioned above.
I save the paper too and our cat likes to play in it when it's new and still has a good crunch! I flatten it and use it for wrapping, making leaves and keep some in a box for spraying homemade glimmer spray.
If I get some of the bubble wrap I'll just save it for my own packaging.
I just got an order and it had the paper in it. I save packing material from everything cuz I'm always mailing something.
Some really good ideas about what to use this for tho TFS
Every time I've seen this thread title come up in the new posts, I think we are going to have to start "bubbling" our orders. This must be a carryover from when I would help DH "bubble" his grades. KWIM?
Did any teachers think the same thing or is it just be who's had that odd thought?
My kids were very disappointed with the big bubbles. They were too big to pop and didn't make the annoying sounds that the little bubbles make. I thought my products seemed a lot more protected with it though. Things didn't seem to shift in the box as mouch and it was packed more tightly.
Just got an order today. Two boxes with brown paper in them. I love it. I know that they are testing the big bubbles but I for one do not like them. Maybe we all need to let them know we prefer the brown paper. I have many uses for the paper, but not for the bubbles.

Tell the kids next time to put it on the floor and stomp on it!
How ironic that you should want the brown paper SU used to use. I got two packages within a short time, each with more than 85 lineal feet (which translates to a ton of square feet) of that stuff that fills my trash can and incites my fury at the waste of resources. It's actually not the fault of SU but the fault of the USPS deciding they would reward merchants who use the USPS few standard size boxes. The upshot of that is the idiocy of packing a few ounces of product in a box that could hold two pounds, then filling the box with something the customer has to deal with, like miles of paper or bubble wrap. The paper or bubble cost is not cheap, so I wonder if the merchants who mail in the few standard sized boxes are really saving money.
Bahb, it's my thought that it is probably just easier to use standard sized boxes. In SU's case, they send out lots and lots (as DH would say: Is that an exact calculation? ;) )of boxes and if they were all different sizes they would be harder to stack and would fall all over the place. I could be wrong, they could pack them and throw them all in a big mail bin Just a guess is all.

I have started saving mine too. I love wrapping in it!!! Amazon uses it occasionally in their boxes as well. Sometimes they use the big bubbles but sometimes brown paper!
I love the brown paper and I save it and use it for a variety of projects. Just recd an email that teachers are collecting snowflakes to send to sandy hook to decorate the holidays before the school opens in January. I may go nuts and make a ginormous snowflake/wintertime landscape with that lovely brown paper.

Bahb, check with your local elementary school. The art teachers would likely love to have this paper for use in their classes.
In the UK the brown paper would be recycled if you did not have a use for it. The plastic could not be recycled. Do you not have cardboard/brown paper recycling? It is collected from the front of our properties weekly in our area.
The plastic wrap wouldn't have bothered me at all, but that was before I realized all the great things I could have been doing with the paper!! All that waste, because I lack foresight and creativity. :(
When I get order from Gina K they always use the big bubbles that I do save for when I send a box of cards to OWH. I fold it in half and it's the perfect size. I just got a SU order and they sent brown paper and I tossed it. Please don't put a contract out on me!

I thought SU! used UPS?? Have they also started using USPS??

SU uses UPS for the majority of their shipping. They did begin using mail innovations for packages that are less than a certain weight, maybe 2 lbs. It usually only comes US mail if one item was backordered, etc.

I love, love, love the big bubbles! Like someone else said, instant stress reliever.
When my kids were little, they loved to put it on a hard surface, then roll it with a rolling pin. What a riot!! They are all grown now, but every once in a while, I get out that rolling pin.....
I've heard of people using the brown paper in their gardens between row to keep weeds and also mud off their shoes, can't do that with bubble wrap. :( I gave a whole bunch to our friend who is an art teacher, she loves the brown paper to cover the tables with.
