Several demos have mentioned on their blogs that this year is SU's last "typical" convention. I am curious as to what this means. Can someone explain? Thanks

Since they have gone more global they are changing the way they do events. I can't remember the specifics but basically they are going to rotate between some locations for events so I think every region will have something every so often. 18 months I think. Something like that. So, this is the last convention as we know it. They will be different now in both locations, format, and dates.

I should clarify….there won't be 18 months in between events but 18 months before one will be in "your" country. It's a good thing I guess but I'm a little bummed I won't get to see all my friends every year in July!
I can't afford convention , so I'm excited that they are offering local options when the event is in another region. To me, this will be more like Regionals, which I greatly miss. I'm already planning to go to Milwaukee in November!
Mindy and Lydia, come to Milwaukee to see Lyssa and me!
Arlene, I don't think so. The changes have to have been in the works for a long time as they are extensive. If I remember correctly, Shelli was a little surprised that their mission happened so quickly. I think she felt able to do this because her daughter Sara has been more involved in the company. In fact, at the South Pacific convention, they showed a recorded message from Shelli announcing that Sara is interim CEO until Shelli returns.
Completely off topic, but one of the things I've always enjoyed over the decades when checking in on SU is looking for their ever growing family pictures to see the Gardner family.

What Jana said. They have made a lot of changes which mainly have to do with the company having a more global presence. The events change is pretty much because of this. So more people can have the chance to attend events.
Ching, the Gardner family photos are still in the catalog, just separate photos of each family instead of one big one. I think they did that last year too.
