Happy Saturday!
Does anyone know why SU doesn't sell markers and/or water color wonder crayons to match the current In Colors? They sell the ribbon, why not the other items? I would LOVE Blue Bayou & Soft Sky markers and crayons!! That reminds me I need to stock up on the In Color items before they go away!!
My Saturday running around is done - time to hit the craft room!
They've never really "explained" in so many words. It could be as simple as perhaps they couldn't find vendors to make them for SU for such a short period as year and do it cheaply enough. As it is, they contract to have the ink pads made for a year. It could just be that adding more items devoted to the one-year colors isn't worth it in the long run...too expensive.
Perhaps they could take the last two sets of in-colours and make them a whole new family of colours in the next catty. This way we could get the markers and crayons as well. I vote for it....how about you?

Thanks for the info & ideas. Interesting that SU contracts the stamp pads for a year. I like hearing the backstories about a business. Well, it'll be fun to see the new colors when they come out!
And one pack of blender pens will make 6 markers. You don't have to let them dry out you can dip them in a tiny drop of reinker. When that tuns out just refresh with a tiny bit more. But if you have dried out blender pens by all means use those. Nice way to repurpose them.
I remember the first year of the In Colors program I only bought the reinkers and a new set of blender pens, thinking I could get by with just using them and avoiding the expense of the inkpads as well. Well, even though that worked, lol, of course I wound up getting the whole set! I am greedy, I guess...
I think the program of having a set of colors separate from the core program of color families we have is brilliant. Yes, it's sad to see favorite colors go at the end of their term, but it just means that 6 new, trendy colors are arriving. We've got it both ways now...stability with the color families (which means I can count on the same colors being available for the long haul), AND fresh, new colors all the time. What could be better??
As long as I can get the desires result -- being able to color with the ink -- I don't mind not having the markers available.
How long has the In Colors program been running? Have the core color families always been what they are today or did they change occasionally?
I've been stamping (somewhat) for about 7 years but it was always intermingled with my other craft projects (cross stitch, beading, sewing, etc.) and I would only do a handful of cards a year. Last summer I got back into stamping w/a vengence due to a friend (also a SU demonstrator) reintroducing me to stamping and SU. I adore stamping now and have shoved all the other craft junk in the back of the closet. It's been fun to build my Su supplies too. How silly does that sound?? I just ordered the SU carousel to store all the embellishment jazz. Can't wait to get that! A totally frivolous purchase as I should probably keep putting my money toward the core supplies - paper, ink refillers, pens, etc. I have all the Spots, half the reinkers and a bit over half of the papers. After I get the rest of the inkers and paper it's on to collecting the markers and then perhaps the big ink pads. Spots were a great way to get started w/out a big investment up front! Oh well, I could go on & on, but won't bore you w/that!
I also wonder if maybe they didn't make all that extra because some demonstrators would feel pressure to purchase even more "temporary" items. It can be hard for those trying to make it into a business.
But I'm glad we can color with the inks in other ways!
And yeah, hate those hot flashes. Of course, I haven't been to bed yet....
