I said before I find it really interesting to see people's reactions to color :-)
I for one am one of the few who LOVES starfruit!!!
And one of the few who is hoping for a mint green type color in the new in colors...it's HOT right now! I tired to buy a pair of shorts yesterday in that color but they didn't have my size....maybe I'll order them online....

Me too! I have a general aversion to pink but I love a lot of colors that are often unloved. Like Starfruit - I have a shirt that color and have to stop myself from wearing all the time. I would also love a mint in the new in colors.
I'm curious about everyone who stocks up on retiring colors. What exactly does that mean? I've only stocked up once, and that was last year when I bought 1 extra pack of Concord Crush and Poppy Parade. Both are still unopened. This year I noticed my Lucky Limeade stash was low (less than 1/2 of a pack), so I bought another pack.
But it sounds like other people buy packs and packs of the retiring colors. Maybe they make more cards than I do and therefore go through the cardstock quicker? Or is this like some of my friends who claim to sew, but actually just like to collect fabric.
How about reinkers? The new foam pads seem to need a lot more reinking and I'm wondering if a single reinker will be enough for the retired colors that I truly love.

No blog for me. My gallery chronicles my card-making successes and mishaps.

I don't know about others but for me, I've stocked up only on two colors (Brilliant Blue and Summer Sun) because the elementary, middle, and high schools that my kids go to or will attend all use the same blue and part use the yellow in their school colors. I stocked up (bought lots of packages of the colors) because I make cards and scrapbook their school events using a lot of the school colors. I wanted to make sure my blue for the school color matched throughout the scrapbook.
I don't stock up a lot. I just wanted some Bravo Burgundy for my Christmas cards this year since they don't have another Burgundy to replace it. It is interesting how everyone's taste is different, but I have noticed that in not just colors but in stamps. I personally don't like the stamps that have people on them...but I see tons of those images so I know others must love them. It is all just a matter of taste. Differences are good, that's what makes this world never boring! LOL

if we are talking comparisons to color...Bazzil's Sea Salt is the exact match to Soft Sky, I personally like it better because it is textured. I would luv to see SU make all of there papers textured...I rarely use their paper at all because it is bland to me.
I love, love, love textured also. I stay with SU because it's easier for me to stay with one company. Not to say I don't have stamps from other places.
I wish SU would go back to textured options.
I add texture with embossing but will check out Bazzil again to see what matches SU inks!

And one of the few who is hoping for a mint green type color in the new in colors..
Count me, I love minty green, it would be a great addition, since there's nothing like it now. What was the old Mint Melody like for those around SU long enough to remember it?
I think some colors look their best when combined with other colors, like Summer Starfruit and maybe the returning Crushed Curry. By themselves they look odd to me.
The SU video with Carrie Cudney showing the new colors is great. I love the way she shows the new color families and the similar cards she made with each. I think the color combos are fab. Now I'm trying to decide exactly which colors she used for the flowers on each card. For the Brights, I'm thinking Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, but what's the last color: Tempting Turquoise or Bermuda Bay?
On the Subtles: Wisteria Wonder, Blushing Bride OR Pink Pirouette???, Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Soft Sky OR Pool Party ???
The Regals card is easy, I think: Elegant Eggplant, Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Garden Green, Island Indigo.
Has SU posted this info? If you've watched the video, please share your opinions on the three colors I've questioned above.
Oh, and is the base card Crumb Cake or Sahara Sand?
Thanks!
I posted the above several days ago, no responses. :(
Are there any demos here who have access directly to SU and could ask them about these colors?
I have swatches of all the cardstock colors, tried putting them together, and still can't figure out those few colors. Plus, in the video, the card base really looks like River Rock. I can't believe they would use a retiring color in this video, but it doesn't seem to be Crumb Cake or Sahara Sand.
I am hoping to duplicate these cards, because I love the color combos so much, but would really appreciate knowing which colors were used in the video.
Thanks in advance,

I love Starfruit in clothes, purses, belts, scarves....I have a pair of Gap flats that are Starfruit with a razzleberry string bow. I love St.F in the dsp Comfort Cafe. Strange thing is I don't like the card stock....I don't know if it's just too much of the color....weird though!
I'd also love a mint green in-color! I love the subtles, but I also love the brights.

I can't help with the colors of each flower, didn't look at it that close. But, I think the card base is white, it looks like it has a shadow on it so it appears to be another colors. hth

so glad to see I am not alone on the texture.
I too wish SU would bring back textured CS in 8 1/2 x 11 for card making.

I think it would look good with Early Espresso, Pool Party and Calypso Coral. But here's a color site that you can play around with to see what colors it would go with. My Create Ink

Muscrat, thank you SO much for that link. I wasn't previously aware of it.
GREAT source of information.

I can't help you. :( I'm not sure where the video you're referring to is. I checked the SU website but I have so much trouble navigating that now that they've changed it.
For those of you who love Summer Starfruit, I'd be interested in knowing which colors you normally pair it w/.
Thanks in advance.
I haven't used S.S. yet, but I just got the color coach for the in colors and they list elegant eggplant and Baja Breeze for a combination with the S.S.

I just stocked up in ink pads/markers back in Dec. But I wasn't able to get more purple and pink colors. I do have 2 spools of baja breeze ribbon if anyone wants to trade.

But I've learned that no color is indispensable to my work (except WW and VV). I can work with whatever is out there. Sometimes you get stuck in a color rut and it's good to have to change it up.

For those of you that need a burgundy, either for Christmas or school color, I have turned to papertrey ink Scarlet Jewel. It's a little bit brighter and "clearer" than bravo burgundy, but is not so red looking like it appears on the computer.
