I just saw the post from my upline and she quoted from S.U. that the catalog will be on their website but only available to managers and above. That leaves me out!
I got the following from my upline. She also said that customers will be able to view on line but will have to contact their demo to order.
Dear Demonstrator,
*
Stampin Up! is excited to announce that the 20052006 Idea Book & Catalog will be posted on the Customer Web Site beginning November 1, 2005. We are pre-announcing this move to all Stampin Up! demonstrators who have earned the level of manager and above to keep you updated and show our appreciation for your commitment to your Stampin Up! business. This represents a significant move as we reach an even broader audience of potential customers, hostesses, and recruits.

We want you to have a few days to become familiar with the online catalog, so we are posting the catalog on the Demonstrator Web Site by October 25. At that time, we will also post an Online Catalog Training article and Q&A on the Demonstrator Web Site to help you understand how you can use the online catalog to build your business.
I assumed it would be only for manager's to see, but maybe I'm reading it wrong. I sure hope so! I hope it is only the announcement that goes to the managers and that the catalog will be available to everyone. That would be awesome!
A lady WAY up in my upline e-mailed me and told me the same thing. Nov 1st for everyone and Oct 25th for demos. Everyone will be able to access the catty, but will have to contact a demo to order, just as before!
Wow, I got the e-mail yesterday from Stampin' Up! Headquarters but I haven't even passed it on to my group yet because it was a Manager and above announcement. I will pass it on to them right now.
It will be available for EVERYONE to view starting Nov. 1st. This is the entire catalog including samples, etc. You do have to contact your demo to order. It will be available for us demos to check out and see what we think on Oct. 25th. Really this is exciting news.
I have mixed emotions about this. If it's a PDF of the whole catalog, then won't it detract people from buying catalogs from demos? But then I think ~ "oh, fantastic, now I can place orders from anywhere when I forget my catalog at home." But I'm definitely leaning farther toward bummed than happy.
writing as a non-demo, sometime SU aficionado, I think it's a great idea! since I don't buy SU stamps exclusively, I am always hesitant to put the $10 toward a catty when I could spend a few dollars more and have a stamp set to play with. while it's great to have the ideas, I don't think it's an absolute must (especially with sites like SCS around for even better ideas). this way, I can look through it before a workshop or party so I don't have to feel rushed before ordering.

I don't think so. Have you ever tried looking at the pdf's of the mini's? It's a pain in the butt. Nothing at all compared to having the book in your hand. If anything, I think seeing the pdf version will entice more people into thinking "I GOTTA HAVE THIS!"

I look at the mini all the time and I don't seem to have a problem. That's why I'm worried. As long as they don't put the sample recipes in the back, I might be okay with it.
It will be nice to have the catalog on line. But I would still buy a catalog so I can have one to look through when I'm sitting on the couch watching TV or whatever.

All demonstrators will be able to view the Online Catalog around October 25th and as of November 1, all customers will be able to view this information on the Stampin' Up! Web Site and each Demonstrator Business Web Site!
I am so excited about this tool and think that it will really help with outside orders for workshops.
Well since they say it's the Idea Book & Catalog, I would assume that means exactly the same thing as the paper version. Speaking as a customer... I think it's about time! Don't get me wrong. I LOVE having the actual catalog in my hands, but I have also really liked having the mini's saved on my computer. I like that I don't have to go across the room (call me lazy) to get my catty to look something up.
I'd like to see a "wish list" feature with the on-line catty. That way, you could e-mail your "wish list" to friends & family. Hey, I'm only trying to make their holiday shopping easier
Does anyone know if the the Canadian catalogue will be available online too? Will it be one catalogue with both US and CDN prices? Or, will us Canadians be excluded? Anyone high up in Canada heard about this?

Firstly I must say, I am far from "high up in Canada", but have heard that we on the north side of the border will also have access to an online catty. Great news, can't wait!!!!!!

They have recently posted more information for SU! demos:
- everyone will be able to view the US, Canadian English, and Canadian French catalogues
- you can still only order from your demo
- you can still only order from the catalogue for your country
- it will be the entire catalogue - with the ability to "mark it up" somehow (can't wait to see how that works)
I read that it will be completely interactive, you can circle the things that you want, type notes, it has recipes, and so on and so forth.
I think this is a great idea, I think it will help expand your sales. Being in the military overseas, people are REALLY spread out and can't always make it to workshops, but still want to see a catalog to check it out. They don't want to pay 10 bucks for a catalog just to "check it out" and I don't have enough time to drive all over England to show somebody a catalog, and if I comp the catalog, then I may never make the money back.
Granted, I'm under some special circumstances, I think that this might work to everybodies benifit and you will be able to sell to friends and family members that dont' necessarily live in the same viscinity, but are dedicated to you as a demo.
I think this is absolutely fantastic. Anything that puts SU products at the customers fingertips is nothing but helpful. The ones who want hardcopies will always still buy ~ as I always prefer a hardcopy, and now the ones who don't want to shell out the $$ will have easy access to see what SU offers.
Also, its great for those who don't know much or anything about SU products, this will give'em a full view of products and ideas. I came into SU knowing nothing about them, just took a leap of faith... if I had access to an online catalog, that would've been a great plus. I can't wait to share it the news with my customers.
