Hey all... I am just starting to grow my TAC Stamp collection. I just bought 8 new sets. I have put them into CD Cases like I store my other UM stamps and my acrylic stamps, however because of their thickness, I can't always fit an entire set into one case. Not a big deal.. I have them labelled as Set A #1 and Set A #2.
My question is this.... what are you all doing to index your word stamps from TAC? I have no problem with the clear stamps as I can look through the case and read them "right side up", but the script TAC stamps I have are close to impossible to read backwards....
This is probably alittle late, but! for my words I stamp the smooth side of the cling with the whole stamp set before I stick the two pieces together and then cut them out. It's never perfect, but I can read what they say and they won't be upside down! Here's a sample: http://allamericanstampers.tripod.com/id17.html
If they are already done, you can ink them up with Stazon again and try stamping the lid or, cut out a square to slip on the top inside of the lid and just stamp the images on that...whenever I loan my stamps to the ladies at church, they always come back indexed like that!
I stamp my images on cs for in the front of the cd case.
Me too! And then I try to put the stamps in the case in the "right" place - so if the word "hello" was stamped on the top right hand corner of the cs, the "hello" stamp is in the top right hand corner of the CD case, if you see what I mean. Hard to describe - easy to do!

I do this too, with palette inks. I've also stamped with palette inks on clear lamenated sheets, and put that sheet in the case with the stamps.
I really like the idea of writing on the back too. Would be quicker with mounting them.
I just use an ink pen and write the word on the cushion or bare rubber if you use no cushion...
Duh - why have I never thought of that? It would make life so much easier, especially with the big word sets like "Abundance" I really have a hard time working out which stamp is which with that set! Now I might actually use it more often

if you just need to know what a stamp says before indexing it, hold it in front of a mirror and you will be able to read it. I keep a little mirror with my stamps just in case I haven't indexed one and want to use it.

Thanks for sharing!!
Yeah, same for me! College education, no common sense...

Before I started indexing my stamps. I would take a piece of scrap paper about the size of the CD case. and stamp the images on it. I then attached it to my CD so I could view it. Then open the case and pick the stamp that I wanted.
But since I have started indexing my stamps. I do use this method anymore.
I start out with my Palette NOIR ink, Pull the paper off the cling side. Then get my Full Sheet of Rubber stamps and ink it. Then I place the Cling side down on the Rubber stamp sheet. and rub around it. To make sure I have everything inked.
Pull the cling foam up and let it dry. Before cutting my stamps out.
After they have dried! Then I peel the paper off the sticky side and make sure everything is lined up. and press it onto the Rubber sheet.
Then I cut them out. and place them in my CD cases.
If the Stamp set is Large then I use two CD cases and label them.
With the name of the set and 1 & 2. This way I keep them together.
I index on the Cling as everyone has described. BUT, I also create a CD insert and stamp on it so I know exactly which stamp goes in which case.
This helps out when using multiple sets at the same time.

It's so funny that I actually pull out the indexed sheet that the ladies at church make for my CD cases...I don't know why, but I just prefer to look at that naked rubber! But, I do save the sheets so I can slip them back in when they go back to the church ladies.
I've heard that the Palette ink has smeared for some gals but the key must be to really make sure it's dry. With Stazon, I can stamp and cut...but, sometimes there is a little stazon reside that sticks to the plastic case and I'm not sure that the palette ink does that...
I tried using black Staz-on on the cling foam, but found the stamp wouldn't stick to the block much at all. Does anyone else have that problem? I tried Palette Noir and that wouldn't dry on it. So I just stamp a sheet that goes in the front of the cd case. Works for me.

Reason: clarifying
I don't use the Staz-on anymore because it's just so messy to clean up. I do use the Palette Noir and I haven't had any problem with it not drying. I just give it a good, long time before I stamp with it--a couple hours or overnight.
I am Really Lazy. I just took an old catty and tore the picture of the stamp set out and taped it to the stamp set container!!

 The horror of tearing apart your catalog!! eeck! You could also scan it and cut it out...that way if the set is bigger than the CD case, you can minimize it some.
I use the Palette Noir ink to index the cling, then I use my heat gun to dry and set the ink. I keep moving the heat gun over the ink on the cling quickly, it doesn't take long. I set the indexed cling aside to cool while I cut the stamp images out of the rubber. I take each stamp image individually and place it on the matching cling index (like I was stamping the cling again without ink) I cut the cling around the stamp while holding them together. Before I attach the the stamp to the cling I trim any intricate areas out of the cling to match the way I cut the stamp out, then attach the stamp to the indexed cling.
The Palette ink does not smear, the cling is fine, no residue on the CD case, and the stamp images are are pretty accurately matched to the indexed cling.
These are good ideas since I was having this same issue. My only issue is that I love the TAC sets so much because the rubber is so deeply etched that I never even bother with the creative cling (its in a box on the floor in my stamp room) so I just stamped with the stazon to the inside of my CD case an put tack it over and over on my stamps and placed the stamp where I had the inked version of it.

I've been thinking of doing the same thing with my next sets because I've heard so many good things about the results. have you had any issues with the Staz on coming off? I don't suppose it would make that much difference to the rubber since it would be coming off on to the back side?
No one addressed this: do you have trouble with your creative cling sticking to the acrylic blocks when they've been indexed? The one stamp I did that to will hardly stick at all. (Not that it's a big deal to me - I don't plan on doing this with my stamps.)

I index all of my stamps. The only time I have an issue with the cling sticking to the block is when it is a small stamp and the block has stamp cleaner on it. This would be when I use a stamp, clean it, and then stick another on that block while there is still residue from the cleaner. This very seldom happens.
