Anyone care to share how you store your bare rubber stamps? I currently have many stamps on ez mount, but those on thin black ez mount are starting to lose their cling. I've remounted many of them, but I'm starting to wonder if I should just switch to a different way of storing my stamps and leave them as bare rubber. It would be a lot easier to not have to mount them. Thanks!
I have mine on ez mount and just wash them off when they loose there "stick" sometimes the oils in your skin can coat the cling and cause it to loose its sticky.
Still trying to figure out the best way to stick plain rubber to the blocks was using double sided tape and I hate it!
All mine are on laminated sheets in A4 binders. I use a Quickie glue pen, or a repositional spray adhesive to hold them. Then I use Tack'n'peel on my acrylic blocks. I did originally go down the EZ mount route, but I have noticed over the last couple of years that some of the older ones, maybe 10+years, were starting to peel away from the stamps. It seemed like the glue had broken down, and it just peeled straight off. Also, no EZmount takes up less space, lol.
Sue (gregzgurl) stores hers as bare rubber. She may chime in here, but until then, here's one of her posts on her blog about her storage. random.on purpose.: Stamp Storage
Most of my stamps are bare rubber. I store them on panels that have been cut fit the SU! wood mount cases. I cut the panels slightly smaller than needed then laminated them. Then I trim the laminated sheet to the correct size and lay them in the SU! cases.
I used TIOO glue when I tackled the job of unmounting my stamps. Now, if I take a stamp off a block or order it as bare rubber, I just use a piece of double stick tape on the back. It's quicker and easier than smearing TIOO glue on the back & waiting for it to dry before putting the stamp away.
my bare rubber stamps currently are on cardstock (not laminated) with repositionable glue on the back in paper CD holders.
I think my dream system is laminated sheets for all my stamps in Unikeep storage binders. I find I am need less steps to access stamps and better organization on finding them.
I have gone with bare rubber now for the majority of my rubber stamp collection. I use a combination of Martha Stewart pocket pages and trading card pocket protectors in ringbinders. Works really well and has vastly reduced the space my collection takes up!
