Default Stamps are like good books you can never have enough

I'm serious. I have been looking at CTMH, PaperTray,TAC, SU. Too many beautiful images. Must have them all. Can't get rid of any. I don't even stick with what the latest trend is. I seriously look at the themes and get whatever themes I do not have. And then when I think I have enough I look, and there they have something completely different. Where is a fairy godmother when you want one.

I know- I tell my husband this hobby works out cheaper than buying a card, but seriously these days my cards are averaging about the price of a stamp as I only seem to use them once or twice!

That is one of the reasons why I am starting to unmount my retired SU sets and anything that I buy non SU, I am trying to buy unmounted when I can. I still mount current sets since I use them for my stamp club and camps. I have a hard time getting rid of things, but I am sorting thru my old sets and actually finding some that are no longer really my style and that won't make me sad to part with.

I believe this quote applies to stamps as well:

"The truly cultured are capable of owning thousands of unread books without losing their composure or their desire for more." -Gabriel Zaid

I have a problem buying stamps that *I* love, but then I'm out of luck when I need to make a male card or kid card!

I soooo understand. I have tons of stamps and that still doesn't seem to be enough. Almost every day I see a new stamp company (or a new stamp from an old company) on SCS that I just HAVE to have. And tools! They're always coming out with new tools, embellishments, paper, ribbons! I LOVE this hobby.

I know just what you mean, too ;) ! I try to limit myself. I'll say, "Well, it's SU (I leave mine unmounted) and PTI. That's it." I have plenty of Crafty Secrets (tempted still by their latest) and cannot make room for any more of the single wood-mounted stamps (like Penny Black and House Mouse). I have a smattering of others like High Hopes, TAC, and lesser knowns. I went on an Impression Obsession kick and need to stay away from there for awhile. My latest splurge was the primitive style stamps from Saltbox Studio and Cornish Heritage Farms ~ I just have a strong desire to do primitive designs and it must be answered! My Favorite Things has a permanent place but I need to back off and Kitchen Sink Stamps is nicely represented ~ no one makes three-steppers like Maria! The last "new" company purchase for me was a couple of birthday sets from The Cat's Pajamas... I just thought I needed to "lighten up" a bit after the primitives, y'know? Then I caught onto shulsart's gallery here and her blog. Sandy does the most amazing scenery and I have a small start-up supply of scenery stamps to give it a go... Sutter's on my wish list now.

So, I'm still trying to resolve to stick with SU and PTI ... for awhile... oh - and Verve Stamps (they just had the best release there - every set was wonderful!). That's it. Those three. Unless I need to add to the new primitive collection. Hmmmm.... and Rubber Soul clear sentiment sets. That's it. I'm done.

Oh.. I do try to stay away from the CTMH and TAC catalogs ~ oh my. They have wonderful images, really. And I have a Stamps by Judith catalog that I positively drool over now and then and tell myself if I can manage to NOT buy from any other company (except SU) for three months, I can order. Hasn't happened yet ;).

Enabler? Never. Rationalizer? Every. single. day. Name dropper? Well... you didn't think you'd start a thread like this and not have someone mention companies, did ya?! Good intentions? Every. single. day.

I used to keep a Word doc on my computer with my "wish list" companies names.. y'know ~ you wouldn't want to forget anybody, right?! Now, I fill up a cart and do a "snapshot" of it (my 'puter has Microsoft Document Imaging which just copies a page and sends it to a file). I rarely just order right off the bat. It sits there for awhile and then after I have several carts copied, I go back and reevaluate what has a greater priority to me. Did I mention that I'm a listmaker?? A hobby unto itself it seems.

I'm in the stamper addicts club. The best club I've ever joined !

P.S. Gina K just had a gorgeous release... when is the mailman getting here today?!

ETA: Thanks for bearing with me. THAT was therapeutic!!
