What inks should I use to stamp images on muslin??
Nothing will be washed, so I'm not worried about that.. I just wanna make sure the images are clear and the ink won't go on my hands etc after dry and stamped?
Anyone done this/hv any facts??
What ink would you suggest I use?
I've stamped on Muslin with Stampin' Up! Craft ink. I heat set it with my heat tool and it worked well. It was on a decorative pillow so I wasn't concerned about washing it down the road.
For muslin (in Oz called Calico), I have had success with Stazon inks and VersaMagic. I practice on paper first to make sure I know where I want everything to be, then apply it to the fabric. I have a very small iron that I use to set it. I think if you leave inks to dry they do not come off, especially after heat setting.
If you want to apply ink to fabrics that require washing there are three ways to go about it:
1. The VersaMagic way mentioned above.
2. Use T Shirt iron on printer sheets. Stamp the image directly onto the sheet, colour as you want it and then iron on following the instructins on the packet. Keep in mind the images will be reversed.
3. Use a paint enhancer specifically for fabrics. I put a little of the ink into the lid of the stamp pad, add a touch of the enhancer and follow the instructions on the enhancer bottle for setting it.
Make sure the fabrics to be used have been prewashed in hot water and rinsed a couple of extra times.
I have used acrylic paint from Walmart with my SU inks - retired fruit set(can't remember the name) but the stamps were large - pineapple, apple, cherry etc. Worked well but it was washable. If your's are not going to be washed, SU craft ink may be the way to go.

Same here. Years ago, I stamped real food--mushrooms, potato prints onto napkins. Of course they get washed and washed. I'm still using them to this day, so acrylic paint worked great and I'm sure using it on a stamp would too. Just be sure to wash your stamp right away as when acrylic paint dries, it is very permanent.
Be careful about stamping fabric with Stazon. It's a solvent based ink and the packaging says it's not intended to be used with fabric. I've heard that it eventually eats away the fibers.
