Default Stamping on Glass

Hi everyone-

I am wondering if any of you have any experience stamping or embossing. I would think that you could use the same techniques as they do with tile.

Thanks

You can stamp on glass, yes. Just be prepared because it's SLIPPERY, so try not to press down on the stamp too hard. And you can emboss, but be very, very careful how you hold the item, but the glass does conduct heat and could easily burn you.

Although I've never stamped on glass, just be sure to use Staz-on ink, that's the only ink that is made for non-porous surfaces.

I stamp on small pieces of glass all the time for soldered jewelry and I always use Staz-On. And Betsy very correct, it's very slick and can get hot. A little tip if you do mess up you can quickly use Staz-On cleaner and it wipe it all away so you haven't completely ruined your glass.

Ditto to the above comments, and just to add that if you use a stamp positioner like the Stamp-a-ma-Jig, your stamp is less likely to slide on the surface and smudge.

I tried embossing on glass and it did not work for me :(
What am I doing wrong?

I used a versamark pad, stamped my image, used embossing powder and the image was not sharp and there was embossing powder everywhere. I did wipe the glass with the embossing buddy and that did not help.

I washed it off and tried it a second time with the same results.

Here are a few tips for embossing on glass:
1. Use an embossing buddy to remove static and avoid stray powder.
2. Versamark ink is sticky and can help with the "slidiness" of the glass when stamping.
3. It takes longer to heat glass than paper so be patient. The powder will melt.
4. Glass will stay hot for a while so avoid touching it for several minutes after embossing.
5. Embossing will stay on with light use, OK to rinse and air dry. However, it can be scraped off so be careful how you store or display it.

Why not try etching on the glass? Much easier to do and stays permanent.

Using Stazon works great but best results are gotten with the white ink.

Thank you ladies for the tips. I've yet to try etching but may give that a go as well.
