Default Stampin up rose set

Hi!

I have a set of three rose stamps from Stampin' Up. They are copyrighted 2002 and I've had them for a while, but I don't think I've ever used them properly. They all appear to be differently styled stamps of the same basic rose. I'm guess there is a certain order to stamping these along with perferred colors to make a very nice rose image. But, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to combine them properly. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Linda

Is this the rose stamp set that you are talking about:

Splitcoaststampers Gallery - Roses in Winter DD - Stampin Up Cards & More

If that is the stamp set then you are probably talking about the 3 flowers that are stamped along the bottom (from the link above).

When I'm using that stamp set I've stamped those flowers a few different ways. On this page I used three different inks that I felt were close enough in color. Here I used- Lovely Lilac, Almost Amethyst, and Lavender Lace. I usually begin by using the lightest color on the biggest flower, then the medium color with the middle size flower, and then the darkest color ink with the smallest flower. Here's my example:

Sometimes I'll use two ink pads when I'm stamping these flowers, but I will 'stamp off' some of the ink to create lighter shades of that color. You can see an example of that on my card here:

Blue Roses in Winter by LaLatty - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

And here's an example of when I used only one color ink pad. Again, I just 'stamped off' onto a piece of scrap paper to create the different shades of that color. You can see an example of that on my card here:

Hope that helps!

This makes me want to dig my Roses in Winter set out. It's so beautiful! If that is the set you are asking about, you can also find more ideas in the Roses in Winter gallery here.

Your cards are stunning Patty. I especially love the blue roses in winter card.

Default A picture..

Hi! Wow! Those are beautiful. My stamps seem to be very similar, but not quite. They are also smaller, I believe. I've attached a picture so that you can see them. But I believe the way you stamped them will be similar to what I should do??

The set is called Simple Sketches.

Here is a link to the gallery of samples.

They are stamped one on top of the other with the help of a Stamp-a-ma-jig.

Oops...I see I guess the wrong stamp set. Yes, you can use that stamp the same way or you could use your markers and color the leaves one color and the flower another color.

Like Lynn said (post above) you can also use a stamp-a-ma-jig to help you line up the three stamps when you are using them. If you are not sure what a stamp-a-ma-jig is or how to use one (it took me awhile to figure out how to use one) here is a great video:

Default Thanks!

I knew I'd receive great help. Thanks so much. Now I can make a decent attempt to use these stamps and I can see what great potential they have!..I'm partial to rose stamps and bought these without really knowing how I was going to use them.
