Default Stamp Technique question

Hi...

I have a quick question about a technique I think exists.. (think is the key word here)

Can you take the same stamp and stamp it twice but make it face itself. Example: Figurine stamp- you ink it up and stamp it once the normal way (lets say it faces to the right) then is there a way to make the same figurine stamp a second time but now facing the left- that way the stamp image people are facing each other?

I thought I saw this somewhere, maybe a blog?? I was thinking maybe there were stamping on acetate and stamping it once on each side... Just a thought... Is it possible to do this? Has anyone tried this? Can it be done on paper (logic side of my brain is thinking I am crazy)?

Any help, even it is to say , Yes your logic side of the brain is right... Your Crazy,LOL

Hi Sheena74,

The technique is called Mirror image or Reflection technique. We have a tutorial in our resource section.

Great! Thanks, Beate. I was wondering, too. And thanks for asking, Sheena 74!

Here is a slightly different way to do it on this video:

And yet another way to do it on this second video:

You can also get something called a "mirror stamp". It's just a plain, flat piece of rubber that you stamp your image onto and then use it to stamp on your paper. Works pretty much the same as the acetate technique in the tutorial in the resources section but the ink transfers just a little differently. If I do if the acetate way, I always seem to end up with my ink squishing out and distorting the image slightly (which is fine if you're actually making a reflection effect since water etc would do that but not always so good for other things). I did the bears on this card with a mirror stamp: Bear Hugs. The original bear stamp faces left so the one facing right is the one done with the mirror stamp.
