Hi everyone,
I'm heading to Springfield, IL in a couple of weeks and was wondering if there are any stores I need to hit while I'm there. Thanks, LInda
Great stamp store called Prairie Art Stamps...lots of stamps and all the goodies to go with them. The store is just off Stevenson Drive on Palmer Avenue, just opposite the True Value store. It's part of a small house- the top is another business. Lots of good folks working there who can help you with anything! Store is open Thurs. 10-6, Fri. 10-6 and Sat. 10-4.
Also a scrapbook store on the same road, Stevenson Dr., just a few blocks from Prairie Art Stamps- it's called Scrapbook Your Story.
We also have Michael's and Jeffrey Alans which also carry stamp/scrapbook supplies.
Happy shopping!!
If you're driving through Decatur by chance, there's a great new scrapbook store that opened called Two Scrappy Cats. It's right on Highway 36. I can't remember if they had a lot of stamp stuff or not, but they had tons of great paper and accessories. Not sure about Springfield...I haven't been there since I moved to WI a few years ago.
DH and I are heading to Springfield to do a little shopping. Does anyone know if the 2 stores mentioned above - Prairie Art Stamps and Scrapbook Your Story are still open?
Prairie Art Stamps has moved and is bigger and better than ever! Now located at 1035 Junction Circle-in a small strip mall at the junction of MacArthur and Wabash, west of CVS and Bacon and Van Buskirk Glass. Scrapbook Your Story has closed but there is another scrap store several blocks north of Prairie Art Stamps on MacArthur called Paper Boutique. They have some stamps, too.
Scrapbook Your Story closed at the end of January. My friend who lives in Spfld told me they were closing, and I just checked their website and it says they have closed. If you are driving through Bloomington, IL on your way to Springfield, a new store called Scrapbook Studio just opened where Scrapbook Friendz used to be. (by the JoAnn's in Schnucks Plaza). I was in there for a few minutes and they have a lot of merchandise, lots and lots of stamps/dies, etc that are not available at the big box stores.
You HAVE to go to Prairie Art Stamps. TO DIE FOR!!!! It is my favorite place and I am so glad they are here. The "art girlz" who work there are wonderful and they carry just about anything you could want and more. They also have things you didn't think you needed, but do! (wink, wink) Don't miss it for sure. Paper Boutique is nice too, but I'm a card maker and I feel they are more geared to scrapbooking. If you need any other Springfield info, let me know. Have fun!
Thank you for the rousing endorsement of Prairie Art Stamps! I am really excited to go. Maybe I should take cash and credit cards - lol! I'm a cardmaker also, so I can't wait to see all the things I "need" because heaven knows there alot of them - lol!
Since you offered, do you have any restaurants (locally owned as opposed to chains) that you really like. We had some friends tell us that D'Arcy's Pint was really good. I'd welcome your thoughts.
Oh yes, D"arcy's is great. Usually a line to get in but good pub style food and just down the block from the stamp store. If you like Sushi, right across the street from Prairie Art is "Hunan" and they have an all you can eat sushi special. Go hungry! What day or time of day are you coming? There are great resturants for a nice dinner and also depending on what you are hungry for there are lots of options. Like you, we prefer to support the "locals". There are some great little places downtown such as Cafe Moxo, Garden of Eatin, Bentoh's etc.

Thanks very much!
We just ate there last week. It was good...but pony shoes are evil:-) I mean, that's their specialty so I HAD to get one right????
Yes, Mindy, you HAD to get one! I think it's a law or something - lol!
Stampinvoice, we're coming down this weekend. We've now decided to spend the night for just a quick get-away. So, we'd be looking for another good place for dinner. I'm sure the sushi place is delicious and DH loves sushi, but I just can't bring myself to eat it. I'll google the places you listed above and any other suggestions you have for a nice dinner. Not too fancy as I really don't feel like taking "dress up" clothes, but I will be wearing "dress" jeans and for DH that means "dress" knaki's!
