I actually have both! I have used them each only a few times and I do like them both. Keep in mind that the slice does smaller cuts than the cricut . I'm mainly a card maker and the slice is great for that in my opinion. They both take cards/cartridges. The design cards for the slice are less expensive then the cricut carts, but from time to time they do go on sale at the L.S.S. I also like the slice for traveling, much lighter and more compact. I don't have the newer version of the slice, the one I have is the pink one!
I gave my Slice away because ... well ... how do I say this nicely ... it wasn't my favorite tool ... by FAR! I'd say go with the Cricket or another tool like it! IMHO. {smiles}

Hi Zoie! When the slice first came out there was alot of problems with them cutting the small circles, hearts, etc. Making Memories has GREAT customer sevice(at least for me it was!) Some people that had them had trouble with some of the cuts while others did not. Mine was one of them and I contacted M.M. and they sent me what I needed right away! I wasn't using it so I sold it! Well I ended up missing it and I bought another one! Just the other day I received an email from M.M. to up grade to the "Elite" for around $75.00 + shipping! I don't know much about the newer model but intend to check it out. Check out Scrapbooking Supplies, Page Ideas, Craft Tips and How Tos by Making Memories Maybe that can help give you more info. if you already haven't checked it out!
