Default Sizzlits

I have a few sizzlits that I bought through Stampin’Up! made by Sizzix, so these are quite a few years old, questions are
1) Can you cut a sizzlit with the newer Stamp ‘n cut Emboss machine? If so, what are the stacking layers?

2) What order do you go when you’re Using a Wood mounted stamp to stamp an image that needs to be cut with sizzlits? If you stamp first, then cut you can’t really see where it goes on the die or do you use the stamp-a-ma-jig and stamp after cutting,
I’m sure there’s someone out there that knows a trick or two of what works best,
Please share your thoughts!

Hi Doris, I still use the old machine so cannot help with #1. I bought several for use at workshops, am down to two now.

I do remember a long ago workshop where I cut stacks of CS to the size of the Sizzlits and used the die on a few to create stencils. I had everyone mark the top on their rectangle then pencil the outline. We used the StampAMaJigs to position the image, stamped then erased the pencil lines & ran through the machine. There were a few ooops along the way, but I had lots of extras cut and therefore an endless supply of new stencils!

It was a noisy event as everyone coached the others, and many of the stencils found a new home as they took the idea with them.

I recommend the White Pearl erasers for this, checked to make sure they are by PaperMate and available at most office supply stores and sometimes in thrift stores or drug stores.

Hope this helps.

yes, remove plate #2 from the cutting sandwich, think of the thick plastic on the sizzlet as the #2 plate.
ETA: I realize it's not THAT thick ;)

I have an idea for how to align the sizzlit to a stamped image. It follows the advice of Lisa Yang of Local King Rubber Stamps. That is: create a die cut window. You take scrap paper and tape it to the Sizzlit to create a hinge. Then die cut. Do not remove anything, just flip up the Sizzlit and hover the cut piece of scrap (the hole/negative space) over your stamped image. Once you find the right placement, use another piece of removable tape to tape the Sizzlit to your stamped image and run through the die cutter.

I hope this made sense. If not, Lisa has several YouTube videos on the technique (creating a die cut window) with other dies that should explain it better visually.
