I have the Sew Crafty Mini by Provo Craft. I also love it. I have had it for a few months, but every time I think about pulling it out, I just don't want to bother with the instructions......so I finally did.
The mini has two HUGE advantages to any kind of larger machine. It's so small it tucks into a drawer easily, or into any totebag to take along. And with a 40% off coupon, it's only $12.
The other advantage is you don't have to put a bobbin and upper thread, only one. It's nice if you're changing colors a lot.
I had problems with the stitching unraveling also....until I closely read the directions and it tells you how to avoid it.
The only disadvantages I can see are that it's not really meant to sew through more than a couple of layers. Also, you can't take the body of your card (with the back of the card folded and attached) and sew something to the front of it, you can only sew where you have an open outside edge, not in the middle of a 10-inch piece of paper.
Also, the mini machine only has straight stitching, not zig-zag or any others.
So, if this will be your only machine, I would go with something like the smaller Sears model. If you have a regular machine, then the small one is great for quick stuff.
