Default Selling Name Frames??

Earlier in the school year, I made name frames for my Principal and Asst. Principal for their offices. One of the teachers has asked me to make her one and she'd pay me for it. I have NO idea how much to charge. I usually get the frames at Walmart for $3 each or 2/$5 and most of the smaller pieces of cardstock are scraps. I'm not in this to make lots of money- but I want to get a fair price for my work. I know some of you sell your stamped items at craft shows, etc. Any tips? Ideas?? Thanks!

Hi Mary;

I saw your name frames in your gallery.. LUV them. I have to say. You have to calculate the cost in materials, the frames and YOUR time and gas as well when picking up the frames from Walley. etc... So with that in mind what is your time worth?? Average hourly rate is say $10 (on the high side) and supplies you're probably at $15-20 frame. If you're not in it for the $$$$ then cut your time pay in half!!! HTH.. Just my 2 cents..

Thanks for your input, Debby, as well as your compliments on my frames! I'm leaning towards $20. That seems to be what everyone I've talked to is saying. The girl who asked me to make one for her is not a stamper and not at all crafty so she is just in awe at everything we make! Thanks again for your help!! :p

I haven't sold any but my upline had a workshop (I attended) and the cost for it was $15. I'm sure that covers materials, shopping, and time. After making them I would probably charge $20 or maybe $25, depending on how complicated or how much hodge-podge is in it.

I think $20 is a great price for a custom-made, framed gift. Some people have NO desire to make something like this and would happily pay for it...

Can you believe it!?!?! I couldn't imagine not wanting to stamp on everything I get my hands on! That being said hypocrite that I am I still have 3 empty frames waiting for me in my scrap room to try it!! HA!

Yes, charge at least $20. Don't sell yourself cheap. Like everyone said, people who have no crafting ability are really in awe of someone who does.

You can't eat at McDonalds and go to a movie for under $20, and this is something she will enjoy from now on.

I made one to give for a birthday present for a girl that had a stamping party for her and her friends. Her friends and her Mom and loved it. Her Mom loved it so much that she said she wanted to have me make them for birthday gifts. I just made my first one and I sold it for $15.00. It was the cheap frame from WalMart and I did not put a lot into it - mostly embossing. If you want to see it, I just posted it to my gallery. Hope the link works - I'm a born stamper, not a computer literate person.

I made 3 for a friend and charged her 20 for each.
There was one cute thing that happened. I took them to work and was showing them off. And one of my coworkers kid saw them and asked how much I charged I told him $20 and I asked why he asked. He told me "because they look so hard to do and it looks like you put a lot of work into it, so you should charge about $100!" I thought that was so sweet and told his mom she has a good and wise son.

I thought that was so so so sweet and one of THE best compliments I have EVER gotten!

Your gallery is fab,...WOW ! Love those frames and I think $25 or even $30 is not out of the question,...something so personal and hand made.
