I've spent some time reading the best and worst thread and noticed a lot of people don't like the SU! 12X12 paper because it isn't an accurate measure. One person mentioned they hated the real 12X12 peeking out behind the SU! paper in their albums.
So--why not add a border to the off side? Use it as an added opportunity for embellishment. Trimmings from other 12X12 pages would work great for this. If the color isn't an exact make, do a DTP on the border scrap, or over stamp it. Add eyelets, ribbon, lace, or do a Northern lights effect on the scrap. Add some NL small scraps behind your journaling.
Experiment!

The Stampin' Up! cardstock is not "true" 12x12. That is a great idea to use with pages using the old Stampin' Up! I personally don't mind it the other paper peeking out behind it.
Since I don't scrapbook, it may be true SU! changed their paper. However, some people may still have the old CS and would like a solution to the problem.

That's what I do! Or use a larger sheet to mat my whole layout. Or I use the older non-true 12x12 for matting or other smaller pieces or with my Cricut and save my new true 12x12 SU cs for the background sheets.
:>
The worst is DCWV. I bought the 8.5 x 11 textured cardstock to use for matting, and it is NOT actual size, but 1/16 less each way. So I couldn't get the four mats per sheet I needed!!! How can they just LIE on the packaging like that?? I measured the DCWV textured 12 x 12 also, it is shorter, but I never tried to cut it into equal pieces so I never noticed. I was VERY upset with the 8.5 x 11 (not) stuff.
At least with the 12 x 12 there is a reason/precidence for the paper to sometimes be short, but why 8.5 x 11?? No wonder my DCWV cards always came out slightly off!!
