Hi! What three ribbons do you guys use the most? I have been stamping for a while and have never gotten any ribbon from Stampin Up (just used it from workshops). I really have to get me some of that...it really adds a lot to the cards! Thanks for your replies!
I have all the ribbons now (thanks to my orders for the past few months in our Stamp Club) and find that there are 5 I use more than others. Below are the 5 in order of importance:
I think that grosgrain ribbon is probably the type I use the most right now (although organdy ribbon on a wedding card is just gorgeous... ) I would suggest getting more neutral colors to start with like white, cream, black.... Did you know that you can easily dye the white grosgrain ribbon to match any color? I just rub my inkpad over it. It coats very quickly and easily. Then just give it about five minutes to dry and you have any color your heart desires. I think there has even been a tutorial on ribbon dyeing right here on SCS.
You can never have too much white. You can always die the white with your ink pad or ink refill to match your project. Also I love having black and chocolate chip as well as red. I only have a little of the gingham but I love it. I have yet to get the stitched ribbon but I love that too. My demo has it and we use it our monthly stamp club meetings. I could never live without ribbon! I'd like to thank the ribbon queen texasjodylynn for that! lol She is obsessed with ribbon and is rubbing off on me. lol

You rang? LOL
Yes, I love ribbon. Some would say obsessed, addicted, crazy... all of which are probably true. LMBO! I use a LOT of grosgrain ribbon. It is economical and comes is so many colors. I also use gingham ribbon, polka dot ribbon, patterns, twill, organdy and more. I LOVE the SU ribbon. I also use other grosgrain (I am hosting a ribbon share in Jan for this. If you are interested, click on the link for my blog in my siggy line). I also love to buy patterned ribbon from anywhere and everywhere. If you live near a Hobby Lobby, their ribbon goes on sale for 1/2 off frequently and I like to buy their American Crafts by the roll and Ribbon FX. Also, check out Michaels. Some of their polka dots and patterns are very cute.
My motto is: Everything looks better with ribbon on it. LOL
I love ribbon and have never bought SU ribbon although I know theirs is nice and I think you get quite a bit. I buy ribbon from Michael's and JoAnn's alot and from Wal-Mart too. Hobby Lobby does have good sales on it. Ribbon makes the card look finished I think. Sometimes you can find a spool of cute patterned ribbon for $1 or less and if you have the perfect card to go with it...well who am I to argue with perfection.
I use every kind of ribbon imaginable, and from all the companies. I love them all. The one thing I have to say about SU! ribbon is that it is absolutely the BEST value going!! If SU! had more variety, I wouldn't even think of buying from anyone else! Plus, SU!'s ribbon is very soft and flat. You can use tons of it, and it still mails beautifully. The knots aren't enormous like with some other ribbons. I think SU! takes into consideration whether their embellishments will be too lumpy or not-they usually aren't. Okay, that was more than one thing!!
I go through the most of these colors of grosgrain:
1-Cream (I love saffron and banana, so I use a lot of this one)
2-Chocolate
3-Apricot (also looks really good with Marigold Morning)
4-Celery
I think the ribbon you choose should be affected by the colors of cardstock you use the most. What paper do you go thru the quickest? Or, since Valentines Day is coming up, maybe you should stock up on reds and pinks?
I bought a sample pack on ebay, with 5 yards of each color (crossgrain) so I could see what I would use most. (SU ribbon) that way I can make just about anything (color combo wise) Now I think I'm going to buy a full roll of white and try dye-ing it.
But I really like the crossgrain ribbon definately what i use most.
Just had to throw in my two cents...the ribbons I have reordered already are black and moss grosgrain and black and white gingham. My favorites I guess.
