I'm hoping one of you whizzes out there can help me. Is there a list somewhere of which Stampin' Up! sets retired when? I have several retired sets and am curious when they retired. Are there any websites out there we can reference? Does SU! keep track of that information for their demos?
Hey Danita!
I don't know where to find out when they have retired on some website, and don't know of any place to find that info. on the SU! web, I have not seen any thing like that under the demo site. But maybe if you post them here other demos, and myself might can help you.
By the way, Wheres the kitty picture?
I'm not really trying to find out what will be retired this year...more of what has been retired.
I know that there are collector's guide books for things like Longaberger...didn't know if SU! had something like that. A friend of mine has a "Bentley Guide" or some such. ????
And as far as my avatar goes, I just haven't had a chance to put poor Oberon back up yet. Have to do it from home...
Ok - I went through the catalogs for the past 2 years and created a list of (hopefully) all the retired sets. The wheels are not included in these lists, as I did not mark them in the books.
The general public won't be told until the last month of the old catalog, or should I say the month before the new catalog comes out.
This gives us demos time to sort our inventory out and make decisions about what we will let go and what we will keep.
Where does it say that demos can not let their customers know about the retired list until June? I'm a hobby demo, but I figured I'd let my customers know about the retired list as soon as I find out about it, so that they can have as much time as possible to save up for their order of retiring sets.
I don't understand how letting customers know about the retirement list interferes with a demos business decisions, like deciding which stamp sets to keep and which to let go.
I'll be happy to share the retirement list with anyone who wants it, as soon as I get it! However, I'll probably just have people PM if they want it, instead of posting it to the board, just to save myself from getting in trouble! I figure once something is published, it becomes public information, and that we as demonstrators (who pay to remain so) are free to share the information as we see fit.
I can't wait to see what's leaving, but I'm even more anxious to see what's coming!
Demos can and do share the retired stamp list with their customers when it becomes available to them. Last year's list wasn't issued until mid-May.
I can't remember what happened last year, but it's possible that the list is not published on the public website (stampinup.com) until June -- perhaps that's what helen3mom meant?
This is the response I received on my inquiry from the SU! website:
Dear Danita,
Thank you for contacting us with your request for a list of previously retired stamp sets. Unfortunately, we regret to inform you we do not have a list of retired sets. We apologize that we couldn't be of more help. If you have any further questions, please let us know.
Sincerely,
Cory Christensen

I believe SU! posts the retiring list on the main website on May 1. If I am wrong, please correct, but I'm almost positive I was able to downlad it last year as a customer from www.stampinup.com
Stampin'_Kiwi has an ebay store and is very administrative. She sells this great list of all the SU! stamps that have come out for at least the last six + years and she identifies which catalogs and pages they are on. You could indirectly find the retired date by the year that the stamp stops referencing a catalog on the list.
I don't know if it helps but I thought I would mention it. Her e-mail is on her profile.

I can't seem to find Stampin'_Kiwi....am I doing something wrong....HELP?
Ok I have been looking thru my older books. It is still in 2001-2002, I can't put my hands on my 2002-2003 catalog. And when I checked 2003-2004 it is not in there. So it either retired in 02 or 03. Don't know which for sure. Maybe someone else can double check the 02-03 book.

I know for a fact that demos will be able to view this list on May 1st. I don't see why customers wouldn't be able to, but I cannot confirm that.
