Default remounting an old set, HELP!

ok, I recently purchased a retired stamp set and I do not like the way they are trimmed, I want to trim them alot closer, I just seem to stamp better that way, anyhow, these stamps have been mounted to the block already. How can I remove the rubber die + foam from wood without leaving that sticky residue all over the mount?

I have a set from many years ago that I tried mounting and remounting myself and it looks like hell... the residue is all over the block and it is sticky and nasty looking, I do not want that again.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

When I need to remount (usually my first stamps that I didn't cut close enough) I put the stamp in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds. The stamp comes right off. The leftover glue, if any, can just be rubbed off before you remount. Hope that works for you.

I remount sets all the time for the same reasons.I've found a product called Goo Gone and that helps remove a lot of the residue that is on the block. Then I use a fine sandpaper to remove any remaining glue/oils. Usually I purchase my new mounting foam from Sunday International. Goo Gone is awesome for removing the glue from scissors after trimming your stamps also.
