Do I need these? My ink pads are in fine shape, but I'm thinking I might "need" these for other uses... Did you order a whole color family, or just individually? I'm concerned about ordering them now because they haven't been putting stuff in the little baggies and it would be a mess if they opened up in transit (like my buttons and eyelets did in the last two orders).
So what do YOU do w/ your reinkers, besides the obvious purpose?
When I order a new color pad, I buy the reinker, too. When I water color, I squeeze a drop or two onto the inside of the lid instead of squeezing the pad to make a pool. As I've stated before, I am convinced that squeezing the pad to make a pool is what caused my pads to curl at the edges.
I don't have a lot of experience like many of you folks, but two other uses for the reinkers are for the polished stone background and for use with the aquapainters. My coloring with AP's is a little richer and easier for me with the reinkers rather than marker or the squashed ink-to-lid technique...lol...is that a technique...
I order a refill when I order an ink pad. Uses - polished stone, shaving creme, glitter balls, spin art ( use your kid's spin art), color Crystal Effects, dye Mulberry paper... this is just a few. I know there is a list somewhere but I can't remember what website.
I heard some have reinked their markers, I havn't tried this.
If you have questions on a specific subject go to forums and then search. Type in a few keywords (in this case use* reinker*) and click "search all terms"
It will bring up a lot of good threads for you to search. Sometimes you have to play with the wording until you find the right one to answer your question.
Whenever you have a question it is a good idea to do your own search first-chances are the answer is waiting for you already.

Once I bought all the spots, I bought all the reinkers too. I did them just like I did the spots, one color family at a time. Now I have all the reinkers, and each color family comes in it's own box, which is great!!

Yup, buy reinkers when you buy the original pad. I've had unopened pads that were dry when I went to use them the first time. Not many, but one or two and it's darned annoying not to be able to use the colours you want. Then there's all those other uses for reinkers mentioned in the above posts.
