Default Ranger Archival Jumbo Ink Pad question

Does anyone have one of these huge ink pads? Is the foam/felt raised so that you are able to ink a stamp even larger than this pad?

I bought one thinking that it would be helpful when stamping cards for my index because it would be big enough to ink up the whole thing at once. It was so unwieldy and awkward that I was VERY inefficient with it, and ended up setting it aside and going back to a "normal" sized one. The pad is raised, but just barely...

This thank you is very belated, Sue, but I really appreciate your response. It gave me just the info I needed.

I didn't see this post until now. Yes, I agree with Sue. The pad is very unwieldy, and it really isn't raised enough to bring the pad to the stamp. When mine dried out, I threw it away. It probably would have required half a bottle of re-inker to rejuvenate it. Plus, the lid doesn't really "snap" closed. It just lightly rests on top of the pad, and it's hinged too.
