Question Questions Regarding Community Service Projects/Ideas

I am the leader of a new scrapbooking 4H group. Because this is tied to 4H, I would like for the group to do some type of community service project related to scrapbooking or cardmaking, etc. I know they could make Valentines for the vets but what other ideas are out there. I'd like to do something unique.

I'm also looking for information on typing the basic design elements to scrapbooking/card making. This is a big area when the kids write their projects up and go before the judge. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to make this a fun learning experience for them. I'm also up for any other ideas or suggestions you might have for meeting projects.

Thanks!

One idea I had was to do something for or with senior citizens in a home or in an assisted living facility. Alot of seniors in these types of facilities don't get out much and don't often have visitors so it might be nice to do some type of activity where the kids and the seniors make something together.

As for the second part of the question...would it be acceptable for them to write up the plan of action for the community service event, then take notes and photos of the plan in action and maybe notes on what they felt or learned from the experience...then use all those notes and photos to make a book/scrapbook to present to the judges? That might be a pretty cool and different thing for the judges to see...just some thoughts...
