OK I am in the middle of attempting to make my first chipboard coaster box...so I got everything covered with paper...punched the holes with my Crop-a-dile and tied the 4 squares together...
BUT....I noticed the bottom square is *just* going to fit on the bottom - I haven't pulled out my hot glue gun to glue it on yet - just wondering if this is normal or did I tie the sides wrong...it is like 2 of the sides will fit on the bottom square while the other 2 sides are literally at the far edge of the bottom coaster.
Besides hot glue - what other adhesives have people been using...

I used Fabri-Tac--my favorite adhesive for anything that's not paper. Mine fit like you said--so I kinda squished the two sides in a bit to make them stick to the bottom! Probably not the solution you are looking for. LOL But it worked!
Well, I did not use any adhesive at all. What I did was punch two holes at each corner of the bottom piece, then threaded the ribbon up from the bottom then laced up the sides. The great thing about doing it this way is that it can be taken apart and stored (so you can have them for all holidays and don't have to worry about where to keep them all). I found that by doing it this way you use just a little more ribbon (I used about 22" of ribbon per side, 88" total for the box) and is much more convenient for me storage-wise.
I actually glued the bottom coaster into the walls - very hard to explain - but I will take a picture when i get home from work and post it here... the finished box is on my blog... I used crystal effects - but I am not going to put anything heavy in my box...

HTH!
That's a great idea! I have finally gathered all of my materials to make a couple boxes myself, I even went out and got the E6000 glue that was mentioned in the tutorial, but I wasn't sure how it was going to line up! I think I will definitely try it your way! Thanks for sharing!:-D
I just did one this weekend too...first of all, I like the idea of tying ribbon to the bottom and will have to try that next time...what I did, was....
I couldn't get it to fit right either...so I turned the box over and I pushed my bottom coaster inside until it met with the bottom row of ribbons and then applied crystal effects all along the "seams" inside and out...we'll see how it holds...I like the way the bottom is raised so to speak....
the box itself is on my blog - I didn't take a pic of the bottom but if you need me to, to explain better...let me know!!
good luck!
Thanks everyone - now I have a few different ways to do it...I might try Lacyquilters way on this first one - it seems the easiest to do (I only punched 3 holes in my sides so lacing it probably won't work - maybe on my next one...I can see how I am going to get addicted to these)

I'm glad to see this thread. I too had the same issues with the bottom of mine. Check out my blog to see a picture and my whining comments. I like the idea of puncing holes in the bottom and lacing it up as mention above. I'm gonna have to try that one! TFS.
