I have noticed that many people are now listing very long names for their cards, e.g., CAS78 Polka Dot Stocking by LateBlossom - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers When did this start -- and why? The card title itself, when you go to the photo, just has the name -- without the bit about Cards and Paper Crafts, etc. Could someone explain this phenomenon to me? Thanks.
Now that the forum is inserting words rather than URLs for links, those words are taken from the TITLE tag that is coded into the HTML code for each webpage. (When you view the source code, the title tag is typically near the top of the page.)
In the Go Advanced screen, you can Preview your post and edit those words in your links.
It's probably because now when people copy/paste the links from threads in the forums elsewhere to other websites, it clearly shows who made the card and what Website it is on. So if it's on a blog, a Facebook/Myspace page, whatever/wherever, it's obvious whose it is and which site it belongs on.
It was an unexpected part of the recent upgrade of the forum software. So it wouldn't just be specific to SCS, but to other forums using the same software as they implement the upgrade. And because the social media buttons were part of the same upgrade, the two just happened along at the same time. Lydia mentions it in this thread
If you make your links yourself you can still just have the *short* version
