My sister in law purchased some clear stamps from Michael's and when she went to stamp the ink disappears from the stamp it's really spotty. She is using Stampin' Up! ink, but the ink does not stick to the stamp.
Anyone have ideas..........it does not seem like she is doing anything wrong....
I get good images with clear stamps of all kinds by inking them with VersaMark Ink first, then with a chalk or Palette Ink to stamp. Some people say to use a cushion such as a magazine or foam sheet under your cardstock and to stamp more lightly than you are use to doing with rubber stamps. I don't have a gallery but I posted thumbnails of a few cards I stamped using this method and Michael's $1 stamps in the "Share Your Michael's $1 Cards" thread if you want to see how the images look using this method.
Ditto on the eraser ... the only clear stamps I have are PaperTrey (LOVE them!) and Nichole even instructs you to rub an eraser over top them (lightly) to get rid of the mfg film or whatever is on them. I use my regular SU! Ink with my PaperTrey stamps and have had no problem at all. If you are still having problem though the Palette Hybrid inks ARE your best best for the clear stamps.
I have very little experience with the dollar stamps - but using an eraser or versamark does help. So does the foam cushion. Also clear stamps require a slightly lighter pressure then wood
