I love using dictionary sentiments, like recovery, get well: and then copy and paste into a new document, the version of my choice from dictionary.com. then save the verse or dictionary version of my choice to my documents. Such a unique and different sentiment, using a dictionary sentiment

Judi, has this page changed since you posted the link? I don't see where to download the dictionary. (or browse for that matter)
It's not very intuitive, is it.
The download button is at the top of the page on the far right, where there is an arrow pointing down. The download link is labeled "PDF." When you click on that, you should get an option to save the file to your hard drive. You can then view it with Adobe Reader.
Thanks so much for posting this information! I've been wanting something like this for a long time but just hadn't had the time to really go looking myself. Some SCSers are soooo helpful! Thanks again!

Thanks Judi! I've down loaded several Google books in the past related to my family history - a wonderful resource. I know that "PDF" button you're speaking of. I'm now using a Mac and the screen I'm viewing doesn't have a download button at all. I've gone to a PC because on occasion I do find a difference between what is displayed on a Mac vs PC, however in this case the screens are identical  I only see "Add to My Library" - I've had two people look and we can't figure it out. Very strange not to mention frustating!!! I guess I'll stick with my faithful 1964 Oxford.
I have often scanned pages with various words, bloom, flower, (or a flower name depending on the stamp) wine, daughter, brother, birth/birthday printed them on cardstock and distressed the edges to work into a card. I will be using grandmother, uncle, cousins, journey, memories etc. in a similar manner for my family scrapbook pages. The possiblities are endless once you start thinking about it. Love is a popular word this week for Valentine cards.
No, I'm in Canada. I can browse other books and download them, just not this particular one for some reason. Thanks for brainstorming though, I appreciate it.
MaggyMay, on my screen there is an alternate way to download the PDF. On page New Websterian 1912 dictionary ... - Google Books
in the left column, there's a text link that says "Read on your device." When I click that, the last button on the next page is to "Download PDF."
Since you don't get the first download option, you probably won't have access to this one either, but at least it is easy to check.
After a bit of playing around, I discovered if you place your curser over the green dictionary, it comes up read now or get it-free. And I live in Canada as well and that worked for me.

not vintage ones - but you can get them at the Dollar Tree and for a buck you don't mind cutting them up and you won't waste ink printing them................
Great find: I got a "Columbia" encyclopedia at a yard sale for 50 cents - it's one volume, alll 2388 pages of it. I believe it was printed in 1964 (too lazy to go look!), but the pages are wonderfully vintage looking. I've used some to make those stacked crumpled flowers - works great. My Mom has found some old music books for me - love those too, especially when using a bird image. Now I'm trying to find some old patterns; would love to use the envelopes and the tissue pattern pieces on some cards. I have the "Buttoned Up" stamp set from PTI, and vintage patterns would be great with those images.
Thanks, Judi, for that link!

I got an old dictionary to do this with, but still haven't been able to draw up the courage to actually tear or cut into the book! I did finally take my first page out of an old biology textbook. The habit of not desecrating books is a hard one to break, even if the book is totally out of date, will never be used again for its original purpose, and cost next to nothing.
I know, I'm a nutter.
