Default polyurethane wood blocks?

Just wondering...does anybody polyurethane their wood blocks before mounting their stamps?

Thanks!

I never did- seems like it would mess up the rubber or foam... not sure why I think that. I have sets that are decades old though and the wood is still in good condition. I think the polyurethane would be overkill ;)

YES! Years ago, every stamp that I bought, even the already mounted ones was sealed. I used Delta Creamcoat Gloss Exterior/Interioe Varnish as it is soap and water clean up. I used it for yeas until I went totally unmounted!

This product works great, is cheap and can be easly applied to an already mounted block with just a small paint brush.

You can get this at Wal-Mart, Michael's JoAnn's and about any craft store.

Thanks for the info. I use my stamps at nursing homes, etc. and they tend to get alot of ink on the blocks and sometimes use very juicy ink pads so they have to be rinsed with water to get all the ink off. So I thought maybe the varnishing would help with that.

I always spray them with Krylon clear poly, they have held up great. I have my kids using my stamps and they get ink everywhere!!! I don't buy alot of stamp sets at once so it really isn't bad.
