Currently, I'm loving the Canvas background stamp too. But overall, I use the itty bitty background set the most. It is so easy to use and I really like the effect. It has four different stamps you can use to get different looks.

Oh what an unfair question!!!!! I am so into background stamps right now! I'm sure when I get my canvas that will be it but for now I really really love French Script. It's just beautiful and really adds an elegant touch to cards.
What is it about that Canvas stamp? It's awesome. I've been using it on lots of stuff. I don't even remember what background I used before it came out!

One??? Pick just one???
I really do like the current fave - Canvas..... It just seems so versatile, and adds a great effect!
But ...... I have enjoyed my Filigree a lot ... it has definitely been worth having.
Like most of us, I do have an ongoing 'wish' list .... and depending on the next retirement list, I 'need' ( ) to get either French Script or By Definition. Those really add a great layering element behind other stamps!

I have Itty Bitty Backgounds and Fresh Fillers too! They are so useful. However, I'd like to have one of the big background stamps. I really like both the Canvas and the French Script, but cannot decide between the two. :?

JUST JEANS - see Lana's cards for awesome examples!
Canvas
French Script
Soft Swirls - really cool and very versatile
These are the only SU big background stamps I have. But someone else mentioned Itty Bitty Backgrounds and I agree - it's awesome! I also have Background Basics and that's a really good one too.
Since we're talking about BG stamps - I might mention a technique I learned here on SCS. I find it hard to get a good image when using a big stamp like those I mentioned above. I ink up the stamp with my brayer, then turn it rubber side up, then put the paper onto the inked stamp, put a scrap piece of paper over that. Then I use my fingers to walk all over the scrap paper to make sure that my piece of cardstock gets totally inked.
I tried just applying the ink to the BG stamp with the inkpad, and found it difficult to do without rubbing hard and thereby getting lots of frayed ends on my inkpads. I think the Petal Point Chalk inks would be great to ink up BG stamps!
Oh, Wow!! Picking just one background stamp IS hard...and no one is mentioning Hand-Stitched!! It's really pretty and subtle, I use it a lot. Also loving By Definition, Antique Background, the new Paisley one, and have Canvas on order!!
No one likes By Definition? LOVE that one! I use that one and French Script all the time.
i use it.. i like it .. but i have a hard time using it outside of anniversary and valentines cards.. so it only gets used for a season. given my anniversary and valentines are only days apart....
I think I would pick By Definition. It's a hard choice and I am a background junkie. I am not afraid to admit that I have them all except for the Geometric one. I also love the Canvas and Just Jeans....and many more. But By Definition I love!
I absolutely love lots of the large background stamps, as well as the tiny ones, such as Itty Bitty Backgrounds. I just got the large Holiday Print background stamp and love it, too! I stamped it in the copper Encore metalic onto forest foliage and it is gorgeous. I used a copper-edged vellum tag with the card and the green organdy ribbon. It is elegant! (The focal piece was the stocking from the woodcuts set and I embossed it in the rich regals green EP. I colored in the stars on the stocking in copper and then used the blender pen right off the forest foliage ink pad to color in the buttons and the heel and toe of the stocking.) Now everyone is going to ask me to post a picture and I don't have the technology to do it --- YET.
I love the filigree stamp. But, after doing Christmas cards with it, I wish SU would make all their background stamps into jumbo wheels. Easier to ink and quicker to use. Took me forever to ink it and line it up on the paper and try not to smear the design while make sure the whole piece of cardstock got inked. What a bother.
I just looked at the post I entered and it lists me as 'cardstock collector.' This isn't me. I don't have a gallery or anything yet, but hope to soon. There's a mixup somewhere.

heehee.. and with post #11, you became a glitter queen.. the name changes by the number of times you post.
I use French Script, By Definition, Antique Crackle, and Just Jeans the most. However, when I receive my Canvas Background, it might take over Just Jeans' spot! It's too hard to pick a favorite because I use different BK's for different themes (ie: Masculine cards, feminine cards, scrapbooking).
