Please help me decide: Wild Rose or Roses in Winter?
I'm trying to figure out what to order when my stamp club meets this coming Tuesday night. I really like both Wild Rose and Roses in Winter. Browsing through the galleries for both of these sets here hasn't helped me choose one set over the other. There have been so many fantastic cards created with both sets!
I love how Wild Rose coordinates with the Recollections designer paper, but IMO the flowers almost seem too big for a card. Roses in Winter has kind of a softer look that I think is really nice, but I don't know how often I'd use the sentiments that are included in that set. Whichever set I chose, I'd want to use it for cardmaking rather than scrapbooking or stamping on my walls. The difference in price isn't enough to steer me toward one set over the other.
I feel like I have a lot of floral sets already (off the top of my head, I have Terrific Tulips, Watercolor Garden II, Spring Garden, Petal Prints, Heartfelt Thanks, Looks Like Spring, Art of Life, and the Floral background... as well as about a dozen Hero Arts flower stamps). So my "need" for these sets is based off all the enabling the SCS community has done by sharing their artwork in the gallery.
RIW has been on my wish list for forever and it keeps getting bumped by mini sets that are "limited time only!" When we get our tax return (at least I'm hoping we'll get one!) I am finally going to order it.
The other set has never been on my wish list. JMHO
I have Roses In Winter and I absolutely love it. I keep thinking about Wild Rose and then always push it back. Florals are my favorite and they are always the sets that I gravitate to, so IMO you can never have too many floral sets.
I would say get one, see how you like it and if you do, then get the other! Not that I'm enabling of course!
I have RIW and love the flowers so much that it doesn't bother me that I never use the setiments. They don't make a lot of sense to me. I don't have wild rose.

Come on PH, you know you NEED both sets! I would give you my opinion on the sets, but honestly the only one I ever had was RIW, and I traded it. My roses always looked like they had been run ovver by a truck! LOL I guess I am flower challenged. But you aren't so you need both!
I'm just the opposite to a lot of you! I think that the roses in Wild Rose look more "real" than in Roses in Winter. They just seem kinda fake looking to me...can't really describe it! Maybe too flat, petals not big enough, I don't know! I just ordered Wild Rose - expensive, but worth it!

well now that have looked...
Roses in Winter is more of a realistc looking rose
Wild Roses is just a big flower to me...
hope that helps... enjoy whichever you decide on...
Too funny because I was just wondering this today and wanted to do a poll. I will have to watch and see what people think. My opinion is I love the rose with RIW but I love the buds with the wild rose set.
I had to respond to this thread because I have wanted RIW for a long time, but thought that I had too many floral sets. I bought the Wild Rose set when it came out last year and everything that I have done with it ( well, okay, not all that much) has been just beautiful! It is a gorgeous set but pricey. So why do I still lust after the RIW? I have been lurking around on the swap board here and another site nad EBay too, but haven't found a nice used set. I like the look of the roses, but also think that sentiments are great. I would at the very least get one.
I've had RIW on my wish list for a long time. I finally got it on my last order, and I don't know why I waited. I've used it on about five cards, two journals, and a couple of totes -- all in the last week.
Looks like I'm out numbered on my vote. RIW and I don't seem to get along well. My roses don't turn out well at all and I've tried several 'tips' that are out there. Wild Rose I use much more but you do have to line it up fairly well, but a little off isn't a big deal either.
Go into the gallery and view the cards in there then decide. I love both of them. I love the fact that WR has the rose bud on a stem where as WIR doesn't.

I have both...I LOVE Roses In Winter. It makes up beautiful cards. I just got Wild Roses- mostly to use in an album I'm making for my parents' first 50 years together using the Recollections designer paper. I haven't tried it yet, but if I had to pick my favorite of the 2, I think it would be Roses In Winter...although those rosebuds in Wild Roses are beautiful! Decisions, decisions....it's tough!

Well, the votes so far are definitely in favor of Roses in Winter. I still have another day before I need to make my decision, so I'm bumping this back up in the hopes of getting more responses.
I am getting my WR set in on Friday, and I do not yet own the RIW set. I absolutly love them both, but opted for the WR set because of the versatility. I agree that you probably won't be able to do much card wise, because of the size. But I plan on using mine for decorating other things outside of cards and scrapbook pages. I love the idea that they give you in the ID&C where they decorated the garden bench. Although the buds and leaves would make a beautiful border on a card or background. I still plan on getting the RIW it is very pretty, but my vote is for the WR set.
