There are also programs that are a great help, the one I used to write a business plan for a college course I took years ago the program is called Business Plan Pro by Paloalto Software. I got an A on the plan. It walks you thru the steps for the type of plan that you are doing. I do not know if it's still being sold. If you have any question about it email me at [email protected]

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. Are you talking about a formal business plan? That's something that is required, or used to be, if you intend to go to a bank or other financial institution to receive a loan for starting a new small business.
If you mean, informally, you have a plan for a business you'd like to start, I think the best resource would be others in a similar business. Or even, especially if it's a less-populated area (e.g. small town), any business owner or manager could probably give you some insight and helpful, practical advice.
The internet is of course a great resource but maybe more difficult to narrow down to address your specific questions.
I want to start my own scrapbooking business here since the one we had is gone and now the only thing left is Joanne and Micheals. I like them but they do not sell what I want such as the paper, albums, quickutz, etc.... I have somewhat of an outline it is just "what do I do from here" type thing. I emailed the one that used to be here but now she won't even email me back or talk to me so I am just trying to go from here. I appreciate all your comments.
Your local Small Business Administration can be a fantastic resource. They often have clinics and sometimes even match you up with a retired executive volunteer to mentor you. HTH!

There's a sample scrapbook store plan out there at http://www.bplans.com/scrapbooking_s...summary_fc.cfm
you could probably tweak that. It's free - you don't have to buy the software.
They've got a bunch of different ones.
Our community college has courses on starting your own business. Plus if you are a woman owner you can get special loans to start a business. But first you have to get your state, city, local licenses. i.e. sales tax, business license In our city you need a license, once you pick a location just to occupy that location and have the public enter. That would be through your local building department and we had to be inspected by the fire marshall to open.
