I have recently started making my own cards, and have been scrapbooking for awhile. I use 12x12 paper for my books and have some 8.5 x 11 for my cards.
My question: if you do both hobbies, do you buy both size paper in bunches of colors? Or do you buy 8.5 x 11 mostly in white for cards?
I buy both, but I buy more 12 x 12 than 8.5 x 11. I make cards and 8 x 8 scrapbooks. The extra from the 12 x 12 can be used for layers, punches, lots of other things.
I do buy bulk packages of some cardstock colors in 8.5 x 11 for my card bases.
HTH
If I had to choose just one size, I'd always buy 12 x 12 just to have the extra to work with!

I buy both sizes: 12x12 in textured and smooth almost exclusively for scrapbooking, and then 8.5x11 from SU mainly, but I do buy 8.5x11 white cs from Marco's (heavier than whisper white for card bases). I occasionally use the textured cs on cards if it matches my SU colors, but for cards, the coordinated color line of SU is soooo wonderful!
I store all my cs in Cropper Hopper vertical storage that I keep on the baker's rack in my craft room.
I do both scrapbooking and cards and only buy 12x12. When I'm making cards, I just cut the paper to the size needed and save the excess for layering, punches, etc.
I buy both. I like the larger "stack packs" like My Minds Eye and Die Cuts With a View, and they come in 12 x 12. That is where most of my pattern paper for cards comes from. I seldom if ever buy paper by the sheet.
I buy 8-1/2 x 11 solid color packs of assorted cardstock at Michaels and Hobby Lobby for card fronts.
And I recently got a huge pack of the 8-1/2 x 11 white cardstock from Sams Club. It was quite a bit cheaper than what I had been getting at Office Depot.

I just bought a pad (20 - 12" x 12" sheets, 2 sheets of each 10 colors) of Pearlescent Basics Cardstock at Wal-Mart today. Loved the colors but this is the first time to buy this size so appreciate how you all use it. It is nice heavy cardstock by COLORBOK.
The pad didn't give color names but there are shades of pearlescent blue,
green, yellow, gray, pink/lavender and the rust/gold family.
I am fairly new to scrapbooks and just getting into cards. I have used the 8 1/2 by 11 sheets before.
