Default Okay, someone please sell me on "Heartfelt Thanks"

My demo's been actively trying to recruit me since January, and I finally gave in and decided to take the plunge in light of the current special. Anyway, I've chosen all my stamp sets except for one $28.95 set. I've been going back and forth on Heartfelt Thanks, and am still trying to decide whether to get this set or to substitute a different, possibly cheaper one from my wish list. For my other sets I chose Friend to Friend (need more sentiment stamps), All the Best, Shape-Ups, Beyond the Basics, Much Appreciated and the Delicate Design wheel. If I do get Heartfelt Thanks, I'm not sure I want to go ahead and get the matching wheel.

I'm signing as a hobby demo, but I may start doing occasional workshops after I finish grad school in November. I chose sets mainly for me, but I kind of want to pick stamps that will be good for demonstrating and encouraging sales later.

I kind of like this set, but I'm not totally crazy about it, even after browsing the samples in the gallery. Should I get it anyway and hope it grows on me? For all the more experienced demos, has this set been a big seller at your workshops?

Default buy what you love

I'm not a demo but I am in direct sales and personally, if I'm not jazzed about an item, I don't do as good of a job selling it as I do when I LOVE the item. When I love the item, I can sell it to anyone. Personally, I'd pick sets you love and you'll be more enthusiastic about those sets versus ones that you think will sell well. That's just my $.02.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but I've had sets that I was just "eh" about become favorites before. I was SURE that I didn't want Paint Prints when I saw the SAB mini catalog, and wouldn't you know it you ladies wore me down and by the time February rolled around I just had to find a way to order another $50 worth of stuff so I could get it!

Thanks for your input, and I can't wait to hear more thoughts on this!

I am a fan of Heartfelt Thanks! I just think it looks so pretty! It looks great with the watercolor crayons too. You can use it for a variety of cards just by changing the sentiment!

I personally like/love this set. Since I received it at convention I have used it for many different cards. I even used it to make a waterfall card. Just the right amount of flowers and sentiments. If you like the Wonderful Words I & II then the "heartfelt" is a must to add. It goes very well with those. Plus it's a tad smaller than those and work well on a page together without being overdone. I have also noticed it matches quite a few of different sets we offer and looking from a selling aspect people like matching things. Makes life easier. I think after you use this set a little bit you will love it. Two step sets make a easy multidimentional images without alot of work.
My 2 cents....

Good luck in your decision.

i am a hobby demo and i've been trying to make sure that i do have enough sets to show different techniques for those few and far between ws. so i tried to make sure that i had some solid sets, some to color in, etc.

my latest is trying to have more masculine and children's sets.
but definately go for what you like. if you're not sold on it, go for another set. you'll have plenty of time to get it later. but get whatever $$ set you need to finish out your set.

This was the first set that I purchased in the new catty. It is so easy to work with and looks great with just about any color combination. Try it you'll love it! Stamp On!

I'm w/Mamaof3 I really like heartfelt thanks, but I want to make sure I have a variety of stamps, not just girly, and flower stamps. I like vintage also, so I'm trying to get things I can demo for men and boys (I have a daughter) as well as my girly stamps.

I too was not too thrilled about this set. I'm sending in my paperwork next week. However I looked at the gallery and saw all the neat things you can do with it. Also someone mentioned to look in the catalog and see how many times it is used - quite a bit. So I decided to get it just b/c I think it would be a nice set to demo - and it is growing on me

Good luck,
Audrey

You can ALWAYS purchase it later on in the year, if you change your mind, right? So, if there's a different set you do love, get it instead!

This is usually my make or break when getting stamp sets also. I like to see what others have done with it. In the end you need to get the stamps you love because you are the one using them. Its a new set and I'm sure it will be around for awhile. Also, you can always order the wheel later on if you just go with the stamps set.
Gook Luck with your decision

You see, that's my problem! Thanks for all your suggestions, everyone! It's really funny, I went back to the gallery again this morning, and the set is already appealing to me more.

I felt the same way about Canvas. People raved and raved, and I didn't get it. I looked in the gallery and did think how it gives the effect of texture was neat, but not worth all that raving. Well it started looking better and better and now I have it - lol.
Once you get the set, I bet a lot more ideas will come to you.

Personally I don't care for the watercolor look of the flowers in Heartfelt Thanks, I like bold flower stamps.
