Default Making your own card - measurements?

For those of you making your own cards. What is the fastest way to make them and what are the measurements? Do you use 8 x 11 paper or 12 x 12 papers to do this? what do you use for envelopes?

I use 8 1/2 by 11, and cut it in half with a paper cutter. For envelopes, I buy vanilla, kraft, and the other specialty colors from SU! For plain white, I buy them at Walmart. However, I am going to try buying some patterned paper and making mine, using the templates in the catalog. I saw some really cute ones in Card Maker Magazine, and they coordinated so well. I have a workshop tomorrow, and that's going to be one of my purchases. HTH!!!

Cut an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper in half (5 1/2 x 8 1/2), then fold it in half (5 1/2 x 4 1/4)...use an "invitation" or A2 size envelope.

I hate to pay the extra postage to mail square cards so I stick to the A2 or the long ones that will fit into a business sized envelope. I'm too cheap to pay an extra 23 cents--but I run to buy a new stamp set that will cost a lot more! I'm such a goofball!
