I'm a big SU person but also love Amuse, Papertry Ink, Clear Art Stamps, & Gina K. Oh...and The Angel Company has some GREAT sentiments sets that I want!

You might check out Victorine Originals - http://www.vostamps.com.
You can purchase mounted or red rubber only. They have great images and different from what I see in other companies! And I think they are still running 20% off - the code is DECEMBER. Let me know what you think.
It might help narrow it down if you let us know what 'style' you like. Cute and whimsical? Elegant? Clean and simple? What are your favorite SU stamps?
We sell unmounted Blue Rubber stamps. Each Stamp set comes with Creative Cling Foam, (ez-mount foam) We use a Acrylic Block with our stamps too.
Our Stamps are deeply etched just like SU's Stamps.
I also purchase Stamps from http://stampin.com
They have both wood mounted and Unmounted Rubber stamps.
I suggest you take a look at the "company galleries" right here at SCS. The gallery will let you see the stamps in action. Many of the companies listed have websites and sell their stamps.
for cutesy stamps, or stamps I may not use more than a few times, I search AC Moore and Michaels $ section. The Studio G stamps (clear) are always the perfect size for a tag or 3x3 card. The wooen ones (Canadian Maple something, I can't recall the name) are $1 or $1.50, and are great for cardfronts. Target also has $ stamps in the See Spot Save $ Spot area. I am not a huge fan of clear Target-brand samps, they are a bit thin, but there is the cutest dang cupcake/ Valentines set there right now, that I had to have. And when Target has closeouts on the Maple Leaves clear stamps, a sheet is $3, and KI Memories sheets are $1.50... so I have a few of those as well.
Maybe try joining an Image Swap on SCS, so you get a feel for what type of stamps you'd want to buy... before you buy them? I tend not to use realistic images, so I can't help with those.
Hope that helps a bit.... i tend to buy at Brick and Mortar stores, but I have found great deals on eBay (got a huuuge box of stamps for $35, which included shipping). If you search for Rubber Stamp Lot (or variations, ie, Clear, WM, Wood, Mounted etc) you can get a great deal to start a new collection of stamps with
I tend to do Cute stamps because I have lots of fun with them.
let me rephrase that last post LOL... when I say a stamp I may not use more than a few times, I mean like a New Baby Boy set... how many baby boys are gonna be born this year, and can I use just one or two sets over and over. 'Boo to You' is cute, but never really works after Halloween, KWIM? Very specific stamps, I try to buy very cheap... so I don't feel I spend a lot on a stamp that will only be used a few times...
I love My Favorite Things. The price is great and the service is unbelievable. I did not know how to stamp one of the images that I purchased and the owner emailed me as did one of their designers to give me detailed instructions. They won me over! I don't think that there are any of their stamps that I would not love to own! Have fun.
I just went to Hobby Lobby today. Their wooden stamps along with Paper Studios stamps were HALF OFF for the week!! I picked up several wooden ones and had to come home and take inventory of my Paper Studio clear stamps. Might have to go back tommorrow and pickup some of the clear stamps!! I also go on line to order but now found out and ordered some digi stamps!! they are great. Order, download and you can make them any size you want!! DZ doodles and Mo's digital are ones I have ordered from.
