New To Stamping...Looking For Some Tips And Techniques
Hello!! I am fairly new to rubberstamping and I was just wondering what tips some of you experience stampers could give me, As well what are some of the different technniques used in rubberstamping.
I was taking a look at some of the stuff in the gallery and was just amazed at how wonderful they are. My cards and ATC's are nothing compared to the stuff in the gallery.
in the message box on the bottom there are two options. one is post quick reply and the other is "go advanced".
click on go advanced
you'll see options on top of the box including fonts, etc. one of these is a little blue and green dot (the earth) with a chain link in front of it. if you want to link to something, write the words such as my gallery and then take your mouse and highlight the words. then click on the little world and paste in the url to the link. remember that the little world already has the http:// pre set so make sure you don't have that in there twice.
I'm sure someone else will be able to explain this more clearly...

here's a fun website you'll both love. it's called patstamping.com
when you sign up for 1 year which is well worth it you will get a colored flyer in the mail every 2 months. On the flyer the woman comes out with about 12 new techniques. every 2 months. all step by step instructions with photo's of the finished card. You can go back and buy all the back issues even. Once you buy all the back issues you are an ultimate subscriber. then you can view even more samples of cards.
She has a section just with SU cards only. a very big gallery. of current and retired SU samples.

LOL I remember asking this same question to my SU! demo -- as in --could you give me a list? Her jaw kinda dropped and I didn't understand why. Ladies, you've just entered the black hole of stamping; a grand, glorious place that will keep you busy for a long, long time! Happy stamping!
Some good advice that was given to me by Jeanne S, do the daily challenges. Another piece of advice study other peoples cards on this site and practice, practice, practice!

Great advice! The other quick tip is to pick out a card you like and to study the elements used like layers, backgrounds, embelishments, layout, etc.
You're hooked now, baby! Wecome to the dark side (or should I say Night of Navy side)!
My advice is to start reading stamping blogs. I am a total addict and a groupie of Julie's Blog (Paper Truffles) Joan's Blog (Paperlicious) and Mrs. C's Blog (I don't know what it is called but is at http://blog.360.yahoo.com/rubyslippers74)
I have learned more techniques and tips this way. Of course this board and the GW board are literally encylopedias for stampers too!

Gee, thanks!
One more piece of advice -- don't buy everything at once!! Your styles and interests will change. Almost every stamper I know wishes she had gone slower at first. Joining a stamping club, taking classes with a local stamping store or a demo for SU, The Angel Company, etc. will also help.
ps. Mrs. C's blog is called Ruby Slippers!

My new plan is to start with the resources page and try a new technique - then practice, practice, practice until I get it down pat. I'm still on my first one, but it's a start! Oh, and the blogs are a great place to learn, too!

The daily challenges are a great way to learn and improve. I do them nearly everyday and they really do help. I think some of that is just staming everyday though!!
I also joined a stamping group. We do lots of fun techniques and it's just nice to get together with other stampers and chat!
