Has anyone purchased this yet and worked with it? I'm considering ordering, but I hope it's more improved from the former trimmer. The plastic cutting track flexes too much on the old one, causing a very uneven cut. I hope the new trimmer is designed to prevent this. Anybody?
I got this and I have been loving it all week!! It is bigger and fits the 12x12 sheets much better. The track is narrower, so it holds the blade steady, I haven't gotten any wobbly cuts!
It's so much easier to read the measurements! It is wider, too, so there is no more guessing where 4-1/4 inches is to score your cards.
I don't know if the new cutter is designed to help or not but I have one and really love it. I don't get that little "swoop" at the end of the cut like I did with the old one.
I sold one at my last party and afterwards one lady was saying she was going to M*ch*al's to purchase it with a 40% coupon so she wouldn't have to pay shipping on it. I was so upset that she did that, I truly believe that hurt my sales that night because all the other ladies were so excited they'd be able to get with the coupon. The one at M*ch*al's has a purple base instead of the grey. I ended up leaving the party that night very frustrated. But I guess that sometimes people don't realize they may have just cut into your paycheck!! Urgh!

Donna, sorry about your recent bad experience. Years ago I sold a line of costume jewelry through a home party plan. My hostess got a bunch of friends together at a local restaurant. She sprung for chips/salsa and beverages. She had probably 20 people there. I was thinking, "Wow, I'm going to sell a bunch of jewelry tonight!!" I was ready to begin my presentation, when the hostess greeted everyone, thanked them for coming, introduced me and what I was going to present and stated, "Now, I don't want anyone to feel pressured to buy. My focus in bringing you all here is just to get us all together again." I was crushed and wanted to pack everything up right then and there! So...I feel your pain!
OH NO! I would have probably flipped over that one! How could someone be so insensitive is beyond me.
I know most of the ladies at my party were SAHM's and I have nothing against them saving money but at least wait until I'm out of the room or after the party. I always try to demonstrate things that are affordable, easy and fun and they love it.
I still ended up with a $521 party so I was thrilled. My hostess was so excited about all the extra's she earned. It made up for the lady running her mouth. Oops I can't believe I just typed that. Guess I was a little upset over it.

I think you'd like the new cutter if you get it. I think it's well worth it. Let me know if you decide to get it. I'd like to know what you think about it.

Thanks everyone for your input. I'll definitely put the new cutter on my wish list. I'm having so much fun with the spin cards but cutting the slider track with the old cutter AIN'T TOO GOOD!
I find that my new cutter doesn't cut an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper perfectly in half. If I line it up at the 5.5 mark, then hold the 2 halves together, they are quite a bit uneven. Anyone else experienced this? Maybe my cutter is mis-aligned. But other than that I love it! Very straight cuts and I like the marked grid.
I just have to agree with everyone else and say the new cutter is WONDERFUL! It is so much better than the old one. It was the first thing I ordered and I am very pleased with it!
My friend (CamSarasMom) and I have had the same problem. Both of ours cut unevenly--just like mamaguff says. When you cut a sheet in half and measure, one is slightly off (maybe an 1/8" or so) VERY FRUSTRATING!! ARGH! It does this every time. I'm thinking of switching to a Carl Cutter but heard that they are not good for cuts under 1" :(
JMHO
The new cutter is awesome and a must have for anyone that makes cards. It cuts so much straighter then the old one. It also has measurements on the right of the track so that when you want to trim your paper there are marks for you to line your paper up to. I hope that you get one soon!
I love my new cutter, it is definitely a must have. Cuts very even and works with 12 x 12 sheets. Also the card sizes listed on the grid are a nice touch. They are just enough to remind you of what size you were cutting if you should be interrupted by small children or older minds. . .
Wow, thanks for posting this thread and for all the great responses. I have been getting annoyed with my old Fiskars, as it doesn't always cut nice straight lines. I'll have to get this new one.
Just a thought. I've noticed the stampin' up cs is slightly longer than 11 inches, so when you cut it at 5 1/2 mark the other piece also needs to be trimmed at the 5 1/2 mark. Anyhow, I think it's the cs, not the cutter. : )

First, I have to say that I am a hobby demo, so I don't feel all the pain you all feel. However, I have similar circumstances happen to me, and I have to just learn that when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. What can you do to get them to buy their cutter from you? Remind them that with a $150 order, they could order their cutter for $15 off--more than a 40% off. Even if you had to sweeten the pot a little, you would be getting a higher sales total than you would have been getting if they were all running to Michael's.
My MOM told me, that a SU demo told her that it is the SU paper, not the cutter that is 1/8 inch off. I suppose she had measured the paper to find this out. Might be worth checking out ,before getting rid of the cutter. If someone figures it out ,let us know?
I was having the same problem with my new cutter and then decided to measure my cardstock. Its definately my Stampin' Up! cardstock! It is just a bit longer than 11 inches. And I was forever thinking that I couldn't measure right.LOL
It may not be just the paper, though. I bought my cutter at M's and the first thing I did was make sure it cut straight, which it did. But I noticed the difference in sizes of the halves (which were NOT SU paper) and I compared the measurements on the cutter to a ruler and they are off. I called Fiskars and they sent me a whole new trimmer. Now I have 2 brand new trimmers that are both slightly off. But I can live with that as long as it cuts straight. I think the problem is that the measurements are not molded into the cutter like the last design. They are on an aluminum? piece that is laid on top which I really like but there is a small margin for error in placement of it. But I do like the width so you can measure 4 1/4 easier and the strip on the other side of the blade for measurements.
Ok, my problem with the new cutter is that my blade keeps falling out. The new one has a spot in the top of the arm where you slide the blade out instead of just popping it out in the middle like the old one. Well, when I cut I slide my cardstock to the top so that I have the fold out measuring arm, and I push my blade towards the top so that it is pushing the paper against the edge which helps to get a nice straight cut. Then I flip up the arm and pull my paper out. Well the blade ends up in just the spot where the opening is so at least half the time I lift up the arm and the blade falls out. Very annoying.
Mine does that too Mama! I have "learned" to move it over 1/16" so they cut in half better. Bummer. But, I do like it better than the other one.
