A friend of mine is having an outdoor wedding, and one of the lovely ladies here at SCS (Doris) suggested this(my friends go hiking all the time):

...the first thought that comes to my mind is an inexpensive tin cup...you can get them at Poplular Outdoor or REI, and inside put some trail mix in a small bag, and tie it up with a ribbon with their names on it.
Thank you, that is a good idea. I will take all ideas I can get. I have both the Pines Stamp Set and the Pine Cones Set that is retired. So anything I could do with those would be great. If anyone has Ideas with those stamp sets PLEASE I would love to see them. My email is [email protected]. I am just so happy that My dream may come true of starting my own family!!! I will be a step-mom to a 2 year old little girl that is so wonderful!!
An invitation idea: stamp your pine cone/greenery stamp on creamy caramel or something similar, tear the bottom edge, print invitation words on vellum and attach to cc card stock with raffia or twine. You could even add a little twig to that by tying it on.
I just got married and I made the tags for the favors, the place cards, and the thank yous. For the favors I printed tags with our names & date on one side and a little saying on the other. I stamped a little flower from watercolor mini's on each one. For the place cards I used two different colors. If the person wanted chicken they had a pretty in pink place card and if they wanted beef I used baroque burgundy. I had stamped & embossed the chair from little hellos on the side and wrote the names. For the thank yous I used the soft swirls background stamp on pretty in pink with "many thanks" stamped in baroque burgundy. I found burgundy organdy ribbon with our names printed online somewhere. Hope that helps! Have fun!

We had an outdoor fall wedding last year at my aunt's plantation in Georgia. I got grapevine wreaths from M's and hotglued fall mums to them (bought on sale at AC's) with leaves. I also found some little tealight lanterns in a rust color. I put the wreaths on the tables as centerpieces with the larger mason jars in the center. Then I put river rocks in the jars, small votives, and raffia around the tops. I got a plain white tiered cake at W-M for $50 and a flat cake circle for the top and hot glued the same flowers stacked on that....I stamped place cards, made the invites and rsvp cards. For the end of the pews I got those silver flower buckets and spray painted them an old-fashioned cream color and filled them a styrofoam ball that filled the top and stuck in the flowers(adding a little hot glue to make them stick!) and tied ribbons on the handles to hang over the end of the pews..It was all very simple, but turned out really pretty- and cheap! : ) My best friends sister just borrowed the wreaths and the candle lanterns for her reception! Also, since it was before halloween - we got some pumpkins and cleaned them out and then put potted flowers and ferns in them for decorations on the food tables. Good luck!
Depending on what time of year you're going to get married, and what colors you like, I love this card posted in the gallery, using Back To Nature pinecones and crayon resist. It looks very elegant and might give you some good ideas. Good luck and have fun! Keep us posted with your creations! - J.
I am making invitations for my niece and she is in love with petal paper. So I have a dozen or so sites that I have saved with places to get product and/or ideas.
One I recently found, www.myinvitationstation.com has some great paper that has actual pine in it. I think it is called Alpine. Anyway, thought you might want to check it out.
Personally if I were to get married outdoors in the woods or so, in the fall (before hunting season is under way, LOL) I would like Gerber daisies because they are so darned beautiful and because the colors are so lush! In the Creating Keepsakes "The Big Idea BOok of Wedding Memories" 2003 there are some beautiful layouts of one girl's outdoor wedding with orangish gerber daisies, I believe. If that makes you blech, there ARE a lot other layouts in the book, and I thought it was one of the nicer layout and wedding idea books I have found to use for not only doing my scrapbook, but helping my niece plan her wedding by looking at other peoples wedding colors/ideas, etc.
Here are two ideas that came to me: How about making the wine glass vellum lamp shades with the pine cones stamped on them? I think they would make adorable centerpieces for your tables.
I have also stamped on rocks. I bought the bag of rocks at Michaels and stamped them with Everyday Flexible Phrases (love, peace, joy, etc.) with Staz-On and then heat set them with my glue gun. Everyone loves them! They would make great table decorations that the guests could take as a permanent reminder of your wedding. We did this for my daughter's wedding with beach stones and had them sand blasted (before I knew about stamping!) and the guests were practically fighting over them! We put them out on the tables as decorations around the centerpieces.
Congrats! The colors you use will depend on the season. I'm a wedding coordinator in Florida and there are many different things you can do for an outdoor wedding.
Remember when you are selecting your date and the ceremony time to check the recent weather pattern for that period in the area. Many people forget this and have been rained out as they line up to walk down the aisle. Also I like to suggest a back-up location in case of severe weather.
Keep us posted on your progress and Congratulations!
