I have been searching for a container of some kind to use as my utensil caddy in my kitchen. I have yet to find anything suitable that doesnt have the utensils already in it. I do not need the utensils, so been looking for something else, and the only thing I can come up with is a quart paint can, which I would decorate with stamps that go with my kitchen decor, (which is coffee-espresso, burgundy, black, beige and cocoa colors). Would a paint can look silly as a utensil caddy?? Does anyone have any other ideas for a utensil caddy?
Location: At my front door peering through the sidelight anxiously awaiting a visit from 'Mr. Brown'...

A decorated paint can is the first thing that popped into my mind! Even gallon size.. but that might be too big...What about going to a Paint your own pottery place and getting a container fired then stamping with crafts or acrylics?
Pampered Chef has a Tool Turnabout for $15 that is heavy white plastic, turns, and holds a lot of utensils. I have one for my kitchen utensils and one on my stamping shelf with all my scissors and punches in it. I've seen them stamped on SCS--check the gallery! It sounds like what you may be looking for. Good luck!

The turnabout is awesome. Get one for your kitchen and one for your craft room! Great price too!
I have to agree with the previous posts.. I love my tool turn about from Pampered Chef for my kitchen utensils.. My recruiter also has one for her stamping tools!!
I know a consultant if you are interested in getting one!
I use an antique pottery jug my husband found in the woods (scrubbed and disinfected well!). I only put things in it like dish mop and bottle brushes, handles down.
For utensils you use every day, if you have a country kitchen, use a crock or canning jars. Urban kitchen: piece of PVC spray painted silver (or copper or bronze or faux finished with the spray paint that looks like stone) with a piece of wood cut to shape and screwed into the bottom. A traditional kitchen--heavy flower vase. A kitchen with an Oriental flavor could use a large segment of bamboo (WalMart sells this in their Floral Dept.). Again, you would have to fit a round of wood into the bottom and screw/glue or nail to keep it in place.
Other things to use: a wooden crate; paper mache box decorated and waterproofed with polyeurethane; a wooden tissue cover, one that fits the Boutique tissues, painted any way you like.
Or you could do a Rebecca Cole (designer) and hang them from 's' hooks in the window. Her partner, Robert Verdi, has hung them from the light fixture (multi-armed). Can't say I cared for either of those choices.
I have a great Longaberger basket for my utensils but all of the other ideas are great. I really love the paint can idea but I would need the gallon size (love those wooden spoons!!). My old utensil container was a crock that had been painted - found it at a craft fair.
Good luck with your search!

The flower pot is a great idea....I think I could paint that. The PC one, I have in my stamp room, but is too big for my countertop!! lol I need something kinda smaller, even tho I have enough utensils to fill 3 of them!! lol I LOVE all the suggestions you all have shared!! Thank you for the ideas, I really appreciate them!
I also use a ceramic jug for my kitchen thingies (off-white). The paint can and terra cotta pot are also both great ideas with a lot of creative potential though!
