Default Need opinion on coloring tumbled tiles

I was working on a tumbled tile yesterday. I was coloring in my image with a Sharpie. THis particular tile had a lot of crevices and dips in it (pretty much a lot of holes!).

Do you color down inside of those holes or just the surface. I know that the stamped part of the image doesn't go down into the holes, but it looked kind 'incomplete' without the holes colored in. On the other hand, it looked goofy with the holes colored in but not stamped.

I know, with all of the horrible things going on in this world this is pretty minor, but I was curious what everyone else did.

TIA

I have never used sharpies for coloring tiles, only pastels. Even though the holes and crevices come out a bit darker, I generally chalk 'em. I have also dusted PE onto the tiles to change the shade of them, and the PE in the tile imperfections looks nice too.

I would color in the holes and I would go over the image a little and fill in the holes there too. This is the reason I sit on the floor for an hour at HD to pick out the best tiles, so holes aren't an issue.

That's been my solution too!

I have another question about coloring in tiles: has anyone tried the new journaling markers to color in tiles in place of the Fabricos? Does it work?
