Default Michaels Altered Journals

anyone buy their journals that are in their $1 bins? Was curious as to what some did with them? And a stupid question...let's say the journal is purple and the purple carries to the edge of the book onto the inside a little, like trim - how did you handle that? just match paper to the color? covered the insides?

thanks

I bought a lot of these to alter - only did a couple so far, though. I wrapped the paper around to cover that part of the inside. Wish I had a picture but I gave 'em all away.

HTH.

I got some that had a spiral binding with cards to match for gifts. I inked the edges and sewed 2 pages together and decorated the pages a bit more to make a scrapbook of sorts with. I had a little pattern going - "big" mat, envelope, stenciled images for a journal page, pocket, repeat. On the pockets, I have a stamped image that matches the one on the journal page.
I'm going to add some embellishments to the envelopes (working on something with the JustRite stamps - still working on ideas - maybe use same words as the card/journal front, My Favorite Memory, etc.) and maybe an image to the mats, etc.
Still working on it, but hope it works well for my family.

LOL I bought up a bunch but haven't done anything with them yet. I wish they would get some address books in but ours hasn't had any in.

I bought a bunch of $1 Michael's journals when they were marked down to $0.50. I tried covering the covers entirely with DP and wasn't happy with the results. I removed the covers the journals came with and replaced them with cardboard from cereal boxes covered with DP. This worked perfectly. The new covers were just the right "thickness" once they were covered with DP. The only difficult part was punching the holes to thread back onto the spiral binding (I did not remove the spiral from the paper to make it easier to reassemble). Punching the holes was possible with just a hole punch, it just hurts your hand after a few. Recommend enlisting DH's help with this part.
Have fun!
