I just looked at the tutorial that was created for shaker cards, and what I can't figure out is, how do you use mounting tape when you're making a round or oval or odd shaped shaker box?
Funny you should ask that...I was wondering the same thing this afternoon! I guess you'd just have to cut the tape in little pieces and fit them together around the opening? Sounds kind of time-consuming to me. I'm planning to try my first shaker card this evening...maybe someone who has actually done it will give us a better idea! :?
I've been using that really thin craft foam you can get at Walmart or a craft store that they all kinds of kids shapes out of. It comes in plain or one with a sticker side. I cut it with my coluzzle. Right now Walmart, the one sided sticky stuff is two sheets for a dollar. HTH,

I do two long pieces for the longer sides of the oval, and then kind of V s around the shorter parts/sides. It does not come out an actual oval, more like a stretched out hexagon. As long as the acetate is secure and the inside part is secure it does not have to be exactlt around the shape.
For a circle, I would do a square or a diamond to make it easier.
I have a sizzix machine and plan to get some of their "frame" templates in round, square and triangle shapes (maybe even a slide mount) and try cutting the craft foam (as well as the cardstock) with them! Has anyone tried this??? Let me know how it works-ok? ~Lois
A way that I find easier is to make the retangle or square shaker box, but then make the mat and cut a circle instad of a square window to go over the shaker box. Mount the mat over the shaker box and you cannot tell what shape the shaker box is through the circle window.

Blow me down! Cams, that IS indeed clever of you! I'm gonna try that!
