Are you talking about small legal pads? If so, I just bought a bunch - think they came to about $0.35 each - or is that still too much?
Got them at Office Max.
I went to Sam's Club and Costco, and they both have packs of 24 5x8" junior legal pads for a little less than $6 (I think Sam's is like $5.86?) They are really lnice little note pads. Hope this helps!

I took 3 reams of computer paper (bought at Costco) to a print shop.
I did have to call around. Some just won't do it.
Anyway, if you make cubes 2 3/4 X 2 3/4 you can get 12 out of one piece.
So I am getting about 24 memo cubes. I did have one of
SU's to show as an example to the guy. Just to make sure.
He is gluing one end with chipboard on the bottom.
Total is going to be about $25-$30. Plus the cost of the paper that isn't too bad. I can't remember what I paid for the paper, but it was in bulk.
I would divide the reams by the price.
Don't forget to add a matching pen (RSVP).
There are some very cute examples in the galleries. Just do a search for
memo cube.

I bought some legal pads at Big Lots... I got some small ones....they were smaller than the Jr. Legal pads, but very cute and very cheap. I bought a pack of I think 5 or 6 (no less than that amount) for $1. Good deal, I thought. =) I know you added that you were really looking for memo cubes, but since these were small and cute, I thought I'd post this anyway...Hope this helps!
Our area Dollar Tree stores carry all different sizes in packs of 8. A pack of 8 for $1.
